She crashed through a glass table and seems to have vomited something up... Hey dipshit, she's NOT okay.
Now that I got that out of my system, guessing from the scans that the "kids" shown are the children of the heroes... Have they shown any of the "villains" kids to get their opinion of this whole mess?
I mean, she looks okay for someone laying in all that glass. I'm guessing invulnerability is in the power set? If so that raises more questions, though.
Another fine debate between " The system as it stands is good, and doesn't need to be changed! " and " The system as it stands is bad, but would be good if I was the one at the wheel! "
Every time I see the daughter character in this comic I get the immediate impression that she's modelled on Millar's favourite suicide girl and he really needs to take a cold shower as a pre-writing ritual.
There are characters who look like they're wearing underwear in the sense that their costumes don't cover up as much as our culture generally expects of daywear, and then there are characters who like they're wearing underwear in the sense that they don't seem to have put pants on this morning.
Okay, the fudge? “Suicide girl”? Millar can be edgy, but I don’t think he actively looks up or models his characters on victims of suicide of any persuasion.
While Millar has his own ambitions, and good on him for having them, to me looking back on Jupiter's Legacy, it is perhaps the near perfect capsulation of his issues with writing female characters. Which is perhaps one of the reasons I was a bit surprised, even if I shouldn't have been, that Netflix is going after it as there is stuff they need to figure out there.
At this point I feel like Millar's primary ambition for any comic project is to turn it into a movie* and action flicks aren't exactly known for great treatment of female cast (or the actresses that play them). The last MM comic I read where it seemed like he had something to say was Huck and that's still a world that revolves around Huck (even though it should be Anna).
*I guess now he'll take Netflix as a safety option.
They got rid of all of Ennis's garbage and instead took the core idea of "What if some superheroes were corrupt assholes and there was a team dedicated to shutting them down when they become a threat to innocent people" and used it to tell a story that's actually not racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, socially conservative garbage
Yeah, Garth's hatred for the subjects he writes about really hurts the quality of his comics. It's even worse now, that James bond riff and Hughie sound like the most annoying cis white man in the Youtube comments section.
When I read the original Boys comics I thought Hughie was a bit dull but was inoffensive and the least awful of a bad lot. If you put a gun to my head and told me I had to spend time with one character from the original run of the Boys, Hughie would have been the one I chose
Now though I think he's repulsive trash and I'd tell you to pull the trigger because the thought of spending time with him that didn't involve me pushing him off the roof of a tall building is as disagreeable as the thought of spending time with any of the other characters in Garth Ennis pathetic white cishet loser parade
He was fine enough in the original comics for the most part. In the new miniseries Ennis did he decided to turn him into his repulsive mouth piece for all the ways he thinks the left and "SJW's" suck.
I can't say these scans grabbed me but it seemed to lack any of Millar's usual "How many people can I offend to lord all the edge today?" bullshit. Do I even want to know what "The worst" is in this series?
nothing too bad that I can remember. One superhero gets a midlife crisis and leaves his family for a while to date a teenager. He comes back after a fashion feeling regret and guilt but I wanted more of a follow-up with the wife and kids.
I'll give credit to how when Walter gets his wish and tries to "fix" the world...it's a complete disaster because he doesn't understand economics and his "genius" ideas on terraforming, etc end up being ugly because he doesn't grasp real life throws in speed bumps not in his equations.
It's a fun turn to show that yeah, a good reason Reed Richards doesn't try to change the world on his own he knows one man, even one of the most brilliant on the planet, doesn't have all the answers.

It does really feel like she's not dressed here though.
