I view superhero sex lives like I do those reports of that goes on in the Olympic athlete villages.
Many superheroes are relatively young, attractive, in prime physical shape, and under a lot of stress. They gravitate towards people with similar, shared experiences who understand the unique circumstances which befall them. And as we see here, they need to relieve stress and tension.
So of course you see a lot of casual hookups, brief flings, and short but intense relationships which leads to the perception of the superhuman community as somewhat incestuous.
Also, Doctor Strange HAS always been weirdly horny, as befitting an occultist with such a '60s and '70s vibe. I don't see this pairing lasting long, mainly because they move in such different worlds most of the time, but it could be a lot worse.
I mean come on, Carol could have hooked up with Damien Hellstrom. *shudder*
Strange has probably bedded just as many if not more people than She-Hulk at this point. Heck, I’d be surprised if the two of them never hooked up at some point.
If I was a superheroine in the world of either Marvel or DC shagging my way through as many of my fellow superheroines as possible would definitely be filed away under "Life Goals"
"I view superhero sex lives like I do those reports of that goes on in the Olympic athlete villages."
Yeah, what's the Roy Harper line about how OF COURSE he has a thing for some of the stunning women he works with.
Actually, given Spidey's reaction to some questions Kamala was asking about his relationship with Carol (really none of your business, kid), Peter seemed disappointed that it was just a fling.
Not that Peter has that much room to talk. His relationship with Black Cat was purely physical and I kinda doubt he was picturing a future with Cissy Ironwood.
The list of Strange's comic book romantic interests mostly involve women he knew from before he trained with the Ancient One. Clea, Morgana Blessing and Victoria Bentley are the ones he knew as a sorcerer.
"Morgana Blessing was the sort of woman that Doc would have had a relationship with, in his previous career as a high-priced surgeon. She was the Earthly love, in contrast with the ethereal, extradimensional Clea. All the regular readers loved Clea, of course, but the relationship she and Doc had was not exactly an enlightened one. If Clea had just been Doc's lover that would have been okay, but she'd also become his student, his disciple. It was a case of 'I love you, Clea.' 'And I love you, Master.' And not in a sweet, innocent, I Dream of Jeanie way, either. Not a healthy relationship, not healthy at all." - Roger Stern

I think they've worked fine together the few times they've teamed up. But they're both very strong personalities with a lot of arrogance, histories of drinking problems, and smoking crater ruins of love lives. Either one of them getting involved with someone new prompts me to think "this will not end well," so when it's each other the potential for catastrophe increases exponentially.
I just noticed that Carol herself was saying it wouldn't end well, and I don't know the character well enough to know whether she's consciously carrying around a ton of regrets right now.
Because these two are about as awful as you can be while still technically being a hero and the raw sense of entitlement emitting from their offspring would cause the universe to implode?
Honestly I can forgive her hiding some issues from the Heroes Return era because the Avengers treated Carol like crap during the Marcus incident but she went full jack-booted thug in CW and has been ever since.
There's a scene early on in CW Frontline where Prodigy (Ritchie from Slingers, not David from X-Men) just stands on a rooftop in costume with a beer in his hand to protest the Act. My headcanon is that he did this specifically to wind up Tony Stark. It would have worked just as well with Carol. These two (along with people like Pym) should not be allowed to pass judgment on anyone for misusing their powers.
(Never mind that Ritchie shouldn't have had powers OR the custume at the time anyway. Writers love to use the Slingers as punching bags almost as much as they enjoy ignoring the events of the Slingers comic. )
Yeah she wasn't telling them because addiction is a disease that makes you do stuff like that since those are the symptoms (like denial) which comes from rewiring and damaging your brain, combined with the vicious cycle that comes from a multitude of heavy traumas. The run is pretty clear on it, including the severity of it being on its last levels what with the organ damage and crippling withdrawal, and further shows her normal self again once she beats it, including giving herself up for any damages and revealing her identity to the government so she can be held accountable (and further shown in Kang Dynasty where she took all the blame for Washington).
And prowler was an active hero around the time confirmed by the data books and his file in the comic showing he was active.
Those handbooks are often wrong or just make things up. I did a detailed breakdown of all the mistakes in the 2004 Spider-Man handbook back in the ComiX-Fan days.
Prowler suffered a back injury that ended his superhero career when he saved Rocket Racer's life. He built the Hornet armor to try to get back in action but it out too much strain on his body so he gave in to Spider-Man. He'd been inactive since the Clone Saga ended and only suited up in Civil War because Shroud warned him about the Cape Killers.
It took a universal reset to get him back in costume during the Parker Industries and Secret Wars eras...and that costume was a Spider-Man costume for most of that.
Of course these days Brown has mostly been replaced by Miles' shitty uncle.
He was definitely flagged as active hero instead of retired. Her role in that series was going after the heroes who continued to operate and were active heroes who they were either unable to reach out to, or who continued to operate despite warnings. Hobie says as much in his dialogue that he's operating as a hero, basically saying he was out of retirement. His file shown in the comic also says "illegally practicing superhero"
He was also employed by pete during parker industries and was spider-man to keep pete's cover, but it wasn't out of desperation or a super serious situation. It's not unreasonable to think he became active around the civil war period retired again (or just operated off panel), there wasn't a hard physical limitation there.
Of course, there's the possibility she also was manipulated despite all indications in the comic saying he was active.
