I try not to be too negative on here, but setting up an organization called "Gotham Terrorist Oppression" seemingly without a hint of irony and having a guy who Harley Quinn just got killed tell her how great she is with his dying breath is an amazing microcosm of everything I dislike about Murphy's White Knight work. This utterly bizarre blend of genuinely creepy worship of authority and respectability with a take on Harley Quinn that's right out of bad, yet also boring, fanfic.
The art is completely gorgeous though, this book, like all of the White Knight stuff, looks great. Matteo Scalera is a great choice to match Murphy's own style without looking too derivative. And to her credit, Collins' writing does feel absolutely in the spirit of Murphy's, even if I find it distasteful.
Certainly she's nowhere close to liable or even negligent, but from these pages it looks like she deflected a dagger than had been thrown at her and sent it directly into Hector's chest. It's not exactly a stellar superheroic (?) debut, and I doubt that I'd be singing Harley's praises with my dying breath the way Hector is here, where I in his position.
Oh you are right! I misread the art and though that she was supposed to be swiping it away with her hammer. Quite far from her fault, but I nevertheless think its a weird choice to have that guy talk about how great Harley is while he's literally dying.
Gotham Terrorist Oppression is a deeply stupid name that would give any PR person a minor seizure. It definitely chips away at my suspension of disbelief.
