Well, burnt food does contain carcinogens. In order to actually be at risk of cancer from that, though, you'd have to eat it regularly for a long time, and who'd want to do that?

They never say, but probably not. That’s one of those weird, offhand revelations that baffles me, like Batman vehemently despising rock and roll or pretty much everything Chuck Austen did to Nightcrawler.

(Though honestly having Batman be clueless about pop culture that happened after that last trip to the movies works for me. I just don't see him thinking rock music is the devil so much as a waste of time.)

Also I feel like you could have cut out the "to Nightcrawler" part.

I think there are too many pop-culture influenced villains in Gotham for Batman to NOT be aware of it. He just doesn't care about it from a personal perspective, and he refuses to acknowledge it if it might make the villains happy that he gets them.

There was one story I remember someone posting here years ago, in which Batman does seem to like at least some rock music. In one scene, Alfred expresses his disdain for the music Tim's listening to. Then Bruce pops in and asks enthusiastically, "Is that the Clash?" Whereupon Alfred walks away muttering an "I'm surrounded by barbarians" sort of comment.

I mean, in all seriousness, the Penguin is a pretty petty fuck.

Like in the Jokers asylum anthology he systematically destroy's a restaurant owner's life and drives him to suicide because the guy laughed in his general direction. The guy didn't even laugh at Oswald specifically, its just he was laughing and Cobblepott decided he was being mocked and decided to ruin the guy, and apparently he keeps a scrap book of people he's done that to so its a regular thing with him.

I mean, if you piss off Penguin and he burns your kippers, I consider that getting off easy.

On another note, why exactly is Penguin on a Suicide Squad team? What skills does he bring to this team exactly?

He was part of mission planning. They were attempting to extract a Russian author/political planner and he was there for his scheming talents... and they brought him along to make sure he wouldn’t fuck up.

I like how the Penguin stays on brand here. It's important for a supervillain to have specific crimes, otherwise they risk becoming generic and interchangeable.
