I mean the New 52 era as a whole was absolute crap with the number of comics published during this time that weren't utterly unreadable shit numbering less than fifteen.
But this especially was just an example of its peak "2 edgy 4 u ya triggered bro" garbage writing
It's not the greatest Harley story by a long shot, but that last scan nicely encapsulates the double-edged sword that is the human brain's ability to compartmentalize. Storing thoughts and feelings away from "active use" can help us be more productive and functional. But in some cases, that only creates a powder keg in the mind.
I expect this writer is probably the closest anyone ever came to using "What kind of person would be messed-up enough to think hanging out with the Joker is a good idea?" as their starting-point.
It's not really conductive to long-term stories, but I suppose it was worth experimenting with.
See, this is the problem with DC's current "everything happened, everything matters" diatribe because it's clearly not true - you really think they're going to include this into Harley's backstory?
(Granted, no one WANTS it included, I'm just saying that that current mission statement is very hard to take seriously.)
So I've seen, characters and books pull off the "Everything you've heard about me? It's all true, even the contradictory bits. Especially the contradictory bits."
Infinite Frontier is just not pulling it off. It feels more like extra-finite frontier! It's been incredibly lackluster as far as reboots go. I mean, I didn't like the New52! but it did change the status quo. Mind you, if change means stuff like the Teen Titans never having existed then maybe we're better of without change.
I’d love to see Zola again, but I doubt anyone remembers her and that would also imply Wonder Woman has a consistent supporting cast for more than one run.
The major lesson I've learned here is that "it's all true, even the contradictory bits" really only works with stories/characters that wrapped up twenty years before you were born, not with stories unfolding before your very eyes.
That’s certainly grown on me the more I see that (I think that’s mostly the colours), but yeeeeaaaah... nothing beats the original. I kind of like this more than some other modern Harley outfits anyway.
The hardest part to believe about the plan to give away exploding handheld game consoles to every child in Gotham is that they weren't all scooped up by a handful of scalpers within the first hour

If everything is canon, nothing is
