Remember when the Justice League was fun? And, uh, animated? Well, DC has decided to continue Justice League Unlimited in a new series, and I'm quite liking what we get in the first issue so far:

Co-written by JM DeMatteis and James Tucker, with art by Ethen Beavers, coloured by Nick Filardi and lettered by Tom Napolitano

That 7 and a half seconds real time was probably more like 7 and a half hours in Flash time. I've always figured superspeed would be torture if you couldn't speed up your internal clock as well, and what exactly is the balance between thought, action, and experience?
(the "why is Quicksilver grumpy?" conundrum...)

I'm pretty sure Flash canonically does not suffer from those side effects, BUT there was one story in an indie comics called Common Grounds that explored them. Poor speedster guy had it rough :(

Yeah, the Common Grounds story [profile] janegrey mentions is here

See also Hero Alliance for a guy who has the super speed perception, without the actual speed

There was also Quicksilver's memorable summation of what it's like to be him which I can't post here as it's from He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Posted.

The heavy subtext is how you really know it's a continuation of the DCAU.

Any word on how long after the last episode this takes place? Or why J'onn left?

This seems better than what I recall of the continuation of Batman: TAS.

Was Martian Manhunter really "back" in the series finale or was he just chipping in to help because his date was interrupted by a global crisis? I thought that was left intentionally vague but its been a while since I watched it.

Oh, did he leave the JLU? I thought he just sort of took a break or something.

I mean, they seem to pretty much let members some and go as long as they don't try to kill mob bosses (presidential canidates are fine though) or lead alien invasions so I'm not sure it really matters. He was clearly stepping down from his leadership role though. IIRC Mr Terrific seems to have taken on a lot of his responsibilities toward the end of the show.

Apparently that Fatale Five movie is DCAU canon* and that team has Miss Martian instead. I assume it's meant to be the the last chronological appearance of the League before the Batman Beyond time skip.

*Which doesn't make much sense to me because you'd think they'd at least mention Supergirl.

Yeah, that was 35 minutes wasted on a "maybe"

"The people with a vested interested in marketing this thing say it counts so lets No-Prize all the stuff that doesn't make sense"

(For the record, I like this movie a lot but I consider Superman's interactions with the LoSH to be a major plot hole that can't be hand-waved as easily as "John Stewart is off-world")

In this series, John and Hawkgirl are DC's Ross and Rachel. They seem to spend most of their time not being together but inwardly desiring it.
