Love it or hate it, Cates' run on Venom was a big thing and it's made some huge changes to the character and mythology. Good for him making it this far and getting to go out with a nice big anniversary issue.

As for setting up Dylan as the new "main" Venom, I can't say that he really grabs me as a protagonist and it comes as no shock that the upcoming V/Ewing/Hitch run looks to be focused on Eddie Brock, what with its space setting. I also don't love the idea of having Venom be a kid because it seems like another attempt by Cates to strip out everything vaguely kinky and weird about the symbiote/host relationship. The chains, too, are very silly. Like, I get it Donny, you really like Todd McFarlane.

And I see this Kong is true to his roots by acting like a throwback from a 1970s movie.
(My knowledge of the American education system is fuzzy, but I would've thought in this day and age a student doing this sort of thing would cause Serious Trouble.)

... surely Dylan should be a little young to remember the 90s anti-heroes.
If he's a teenager 'now', then wouldn't he be more into the mid-00s?
Unless Eddie has a stash of 90s comics lying around somewhere.

I'm confused, by is Eddie so old? I had assumed it was an AU set in the future, but Peter looks still young.

Also, Jack was a dumbass, but it was still extremely crappy of Dylan to maim and/or kill a non-murderous D-lister who was begging for mercy. I hope it gets properly addressed.

Since Eddie is just a normal human (as opposed to a god like Knull) him being a hivemind for all the symbiotes has caused him to age rapidly.

I’m pretty sure Jack O’Lantern was Flash Thompson’s arch nemesis as Venom, wasn’t he? Not that he or anyone deserves that kind of beating, but he’s a bit more of a threat than you give him credit for.

Also, nothing on the whole "Eddie blames Spider-Man for revealing who the Sin-Eater really was, thus somehow ruining Eddie's career as a reporter"? Admittedly not the deepest reason for Eddie to hate Spider-Man.
