SWORD is the mutant space program - as we've seen, Brand wants to speak for Sol, and she has plans. A lot of plans. Nova - who's almost her opposite number in a strange way, though they both go to the same therapist - has his own ideas, and we've already seen what they look like, and it's a much brighter, more primary-colored vision, less tied to one planet or star. The old-school superhero and the spymaster - their ideas of what the right thing to do is are always going to be very different, and quite soon, they're going to come into contact with each other. -- Al Ewing

Date: 2021-07-21 04:36 pm (UTC)Actually, it's a little odd no-one's done it before. Or at least in this way.
He's the ruler of an entire dimension. Makes sense he'd go somewhere else rather than constantly bothering with the place where the one guy who seems to constantly thwart him is, or that he'd cause trouble for someone else.
More sense than possessing some annoying loser in a hood.
-"The galaxy can't afford another Nova Corps right now. Can't afford to lose another either."-
"Also, people don't really want to start an organisation which will only be around for two months before getting blown up to show how dangerous a new villain is."

Date: 2021-07-22 10:57 am (UTC)In terms of scale, a guy who rules an entire dimension sounds like he should be more of a threat than some planet.
(The Old Father's Wikipedia says he's a cosmic level threat at any rate.)

Date: 2021-07-30 03:32 am (UTC)Dormammu rules a dimension that usually appears to be about as populated and advanced as a Medieval European country. And I've lost count of how many times he's been beaten by Dr. Strange. He generally seems to be about as powerful as villains like Mephisto or Pluto, but considerably less competent (so more akin to Thog the Netherspawn, maybe?). This looks to be a big increase in personal power and threat scale for him.

Date: 2021-07-30 09:47 am (UTC)And in a universe of magic symbolism, ruling an entire dimension probably adds a bit of metaphysical weight, regardless of the living conditions.
Probably why Dormy's possessing Ego.
He gets a boost of power, and Ego...
... Ego doesn't get his face eaten, I guess?
