So, to set the scene, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle - greatest super-heroes of ALL TIME - have just rescued the entirety of the Justice League from being kidnapped by space aliens.

In order to avoid the first reaction being to gripe:
The Justice League wanting Ted for his smarts is good. Yay! Acknowledging Ted-smarts rather than just treating him like a pathetic loser who loses because he is a loser.
Ted's muttered 'nuts'. Sucks when you're offered something like that, but at the cost of your partner. But it's sweet he tried.
Also, Mike and Ted being together and alive, also yay! And Skeets!
And while the faces are... slightly unnerving, it's nice to see someone thanking them.

Ted's right. Blue and Gold does sound better.

Now, the griping:
Hate Booster being reset back to being a pathetic huckster no-one else can stand.

Over in 'Infinite Frontier', one of the mysteries being investigated is why some people - Magog being the most prominent - have been 'reset' to older personalities when the multiverse re-booted. I'm taking that as the hand-wavy reason why Dan Jurgens has put the character back the way he remembers him.

Still! Plenty of room for Booster to re-learn responsibility over the course of this series!

I mean, benefit of the doubt, most people aren't supposed to know Booster grew up so maybe its still an act and the JL bought it?

Still, the lack of self-awareness from some Leaguers is really something. I don't think anyone who has been in a long term relationship with Hawkman has a right to call anyone obnoxious. Heck, Green Arrow is besties with HAL JORDAN (and really Ollie is often no prize himself).

Still, glad they recognized Ted's worth. I really don't appreciate the way Ted is often treated by the hero community (especially in Countdown). This is a guy who was entrusted with a "magic" artifact THAT DIDN'T WORK FOR HIM and decided he'd be a hero anyway. This is a guy whose gadgets are so impressive that Bruce Wayne bought his company.

Also, just playing devil's advocate but separately Booster and Beetle are pretty great as heroes. As a team .... well, they're entertaining but they kind of bring out each other's worst impulses and become less than the sum of their parts. Offering only one of them a job isn't the worst idea.

Considering the way Batman doesn't say anything in all of this and the way he keeps looking at Beetle in that last panel, I suspect that he still knows that there's more to Booster than that, but considers it for the best that Booster and Ted are out of the line of fire that the Justice League is regularly exposed to, so that they can do jobs that the League can't do as effectively.

I noticed that, too. In the most recent iterations Batman's been aware of Booster's good side, even if he seems to have... sigh... heavily reverted in these scans.

I wonder if there's more going on here with Bats in the future.

The big question is if either Batman or Booster remembers the latter's stupid 'wedding present' back in Tom king's run. Hopefully that is never referenced again!
