I know this is not the creator's experience, but this story would have been so much more interesting was she adopted in Japan.

In this story, the character's alieness as a robot is mirrored by her alieness as Asian among white Americans, but at the same time there doesn't seem to exist a negative stereotype associated with Koreans specifically in North America, rather with being an Asian. If the story took place in Japan, the character wouldn't look different from her classmates, but the bloody history between Japan and Korea would make the interractions between characters much more complicated.

From what I've witnessed from white Americans, they don't bother to differentiate between Chinese and Japanese, let alone other Asian cultures. Any Chinese stereotypes that exist they will gladly graft onto Koreans for the sake of their own convenience and racism.

That last page has me really worried but I'm not sure why. Are they planing an attack?
