Probably mentioned this before, but did one of the few black queer characters in Marvel need this kind of baggage?

Also, are Aurora and Daken flirting while carrying Prodigy's corpse in a duffle bag?

Yeah everything about this ending was just plain bad

This would have been better if allowed to play out over the longer timeframe the author clearly intended. Hopefully we'd have seen more nuance overall, more agency for Prodigy, and a less hasty conclusion.

Marvel screwed up by cancelling this series early.

Why is Speed going all "Mommy!" there? Shes not his biological mom, and they've met maybe 3 times? Its like being told you are the reincarnation of some womans son.

They've always tried to have it both ways with the kids though. What gets me is they seem to have more of a relationship with their "grandfather" ("x-gramps"?), Magneto, than they do with their father, half sisters, or many uncles (though it's probably best not to have Grimm Reaper over for Chanukah).

honestly that is the rumor.... The scene with Magneto and Wanda was too heart felt for this NOT to be a weird plan between Magneto and Wanda to bring her back as a mutant.

I’d love to see Eye-Boy with Nature Girl again, I loved their friendship in Generation X.

So, the Hellfire Gala: a rousing success or a diplomatic disaster of epic proportions?

I was really liking this book, that sucks to see this get cancelled. I’m not too keen on all the developments in this issue, but I don’t know if that’s down to Leah Williams or if that’s because she had to rush things.

My gut says it was down to rushing things. Leah Williams is openly bi herself and has previously shown a very good understanding of writing LGBTQAI+, both in this book and her Marvel Voices Pride.

She's skimmed over things before in X-Factor, but that's always been action - overthrowing Mojo, the Morrigan kicking Daken's ass, X-Factor fighting their own zombies, etc. Her interest was in character work, and this would have qualified. I'm fairly confident this would have been more nuanced if there had been space.

I'm annoyed they cancelled the book - it was my favorite. I don't understand why they did - it had an intriguing set up, characters that had rarely been front and center previously, and innovative plots.

If I was going to guess the x-line(and marvel in general but especially the x-line) currently has too many books for readers to support. The main titles are selling extremely well as far as comics go and all of the various side titles start off selling pretty good but probably after a handful of issues fall off rapidly.

So Marvel is either designing them to be short from the get go or cancelling them when their numbers fall to make room for the next Side comic or Event comic in the line to keep the sales up over all so the main titles don't start suffering.

Oh I agree - they have too many books. I don't buy all of them. And am this-close to giving up on a couple.

It does help that I don't read any books outside of the X-books though.

Have Eye-Boy and Cypher ever worked together? Their "Body Language" reading could be interesting to play off with each other.

I was thinking about Doug in a slightly different context here. I know people are divided over "well, it's just body language so he should be able to fight" but personally I'm fine with it.

Likewise I don't mind the Eye Boy can see magic and has telescopic/microscopic/xray/ect vision. I do think it's very stupid that he can just fire energy blast now.

I was thinking the same thing over that reveal about Eye Boy's new powers. It is pretty funny that he can basically do, like, Naruto jutsu magic, but taking a character defined by his passive power and letting him fire energy blasts is just so boring.

why do they automatically assume that Magneto was the killer?
I mean it isn't like the island is crawling with depowered or formerly depowered mutants who all have a serious mad on for Wanda...
or that they have been training the children to refer to her as a pretender or traitor

I guess if it is non-mutants hating people who are different it is bad, but if mutants hate, it is ok.

Don't think they're assuming it's Magneto, they just want to know where he is before things hit the fan.

It's Wolverine who asks and we saw that Erik was with Wanda and they shared a hug toward the end of the Gala when he told her that even if she's not related to him he still thinks of her as a daughter so I assume he can smell Erik on her making him a suspect

I tried so hard to find a way to phrase that that sounded less weird than "He can smell Erik on her" I swear I really did I am so sorry this is the best way I could think of to phrase this
