If this is trying to sell me on picking up the Qi’ra miniseries, it's not managing it. The only bit of potential interest is her being Maul's ex-apprentice - but he's dead, so there's no relationship or conflict there.
I mean, I can appreciate that they kept Qi'ra on the side of evil, but then again apart of the pathos of her character was not wanting to be poor like she was with Han
Again, even Darth Maul when he was brought back into canon was given some pathos so the viewer could care about him.
Qi'ra is not even shown any remorse for Han...at all...maybe series where she was younger could work, but this is literally generic villain doesn't want to be weak again...which could be interesting if done well..
Then again not wanting to be weak or on the bottom of society is sith 101.
What does Qi'ra bring as villainess if you take away her Han connection ?
I don't...I like Soule's writing so maybe he will show aside of her that makes her interesting apart from her name.
That being said this all but confirms the Solo franchise/Emilia Clarke's Star Wars film career is dead in the water. Disney keeps a pretty tight lid on Star Wars canon especially when its pertinent to future films/series. Having her alive during the events of the first trilogy and running the Crimson Dawn effectively restricts any storyline she may have had in a Solo 2 and 3 to a very specific path.
Granted maybe she'll show up in something like The Mandalorian as a crime boss and this is filling in the gaps.
Her series would work if it was set within the time period between her failed escape from Corellia and the meeting on Ypso. That is when she went from street rat with a heart of gold to villainous user. Maybe to show that slide, to contrast with Han's story of his rise.
Then again, sometimes we just need a dyed in the wool badguy. They don't all have to have layers to them. If we can't have Admiral Screed or Crimson Jack back, then at least we can try to have Qir'a (where does the apostrophe go, I have no idea) just be a scenery chewing villain.
Boba Fett - smarter than 99% of people in that he decides not to shoot at the homicidal man in the suit of armour.
-"Then you know you're in trouble."-
Flashback to Revenge of the Sith (and the novelisation). "You fool! I've been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku." "Oh really? Because I trained the man who killed him."
Not that Qi'ra would know. But still. Being trained by a Sith isn't the same as being one. (Especially when Maul spent less of his life being a Sith, and more an evil hermit.)
Damn, Q'ira, you have courage, but you could use some smarts too. What does she think happens if, by some miracle, she does off Vader? Does she think the Empire would just ignore her? Because that would be the sort of thing that gets you tied to the bow of a Star Destroyer as it does a close pass of a star's corona. The Empire doesn't let that sort of shit slide, and by using Han as a pawn, she makes sure that the Alliance (the only other player in the game that might take in someone that high on the Empire's shit list and not sell her out) would definitely not be coming to her aid.
She's outclassed, and as a mob boss she really ought to know it.
Boba Fett never struck me as the type to talk to himself. He says very little to other people, I can hardly hear him encouraging himself as he's lining up a sniper shot, let alone letting off a SHIELD-approved curse afterwards.
