The next X-Event has a poster and a title line up

Okay, well, we knew something was coming and it's...




“The journey of the Krakoan Age is far from over!” Senior Editor Jordan D. White promises. “Our long-term plan that all our creators have been working on in our secret Council Chamber has only just begun to come to fruition. With the filling of the two empty council seats, the Reign of X has ended, and it’s time for mutantkind to reach for their destiny!”

So the titles we'll have are

• Immortal X-Men
• Marauders
• X-Force
• Knights of X (Following on from Excalibur perhaps?)
• X-Men
• Legion of X
• Wolverine
• New Mutants
• X-Men Red

Which means X-Corps will be no more, though I'm not sure how many people will be upset about that.

Now there are a few notable missing characters, all the Quiet Council appear to be there, with the exception of Exodus, and more relevantly for me, Cypher (though his lage wife Bei is) and Krakoa which, given the suspiciously pastoral scene we got in Inferno #1, makes me wonder if we're going to get a "No one suspects the nice one" reveal about a certain omniglot's underlying plans, but I might be just fixating a little.

Love the line up of titles, love the line up of characters who are set to play a part in the next part of the current X-men era

I am sad that SWORD looks like it's finished but there's always the chance that it's continuing under a new name here. I know some people are guessing that "X-Men Red" is going to be about Arakko...red as in red planet...and if so it's pretty much a shoe in that Ewing will take that book since we know he loves all things cosmic Marvel :)

We already knew that New Mutants and X-men were continuing and its good to see that Marauders is as well

I wonder if Deadpool will be rejoining X-force?

Seems like the natural place for him. if he does I hope X-force gets a better writer than Percy

Shatterstar, Rictor and Betsy all in this teaser but no Excalibur so I think Excalibur is going to have been re-named/re-branded as one of these new titles. Fair enough. It was always very much its own thing anyway so it not using the Excalibur name isn't the end of the world

Kwannon there in the teaser...I wonder what she'll be doing post Hellions? Guess we might have more of an idea of where life will take her after the Hellions finale that comes out tomorrow

The snark in me wishes to note that there are only five characters from after 2000 in this promotional picture, only one of them from New X-Men, and not a single one from the 2010s.

Weird to see Emma back in her New X-Men suit. Not that I'm complaining.

Not a big fan of having three books with X-Men on the title, but definetely curious about what each will bring to the table.

Knights of X is the new Excalibur, I guess, and X-Men Red is the new SWORD. Legion of X is the Way of X sequel, which leaves Immortal X-Men as the odd one out. It'll either be written by Kieron Gillen or by Al Ewing. If it's the latter, I reckon Gillen is taking over X-Men Red. He does have experience writing SWORD after all.

I see that picture and while I'm always happy to see Magik, Sunspot or Hope, my first reaction is to roll my eyes at those boring same old faces at the first row.

Do my eyes deceive me or is that Blindfold in the upper left? Quite near Destiny, actually. I guess if one pre-cog came back, they might as well resurrect any others. Which also suggests they told Moria where to shove it and for that I'm glad.

Speaking of people brought back, how long until Maddy goes Goblin Queen on them, do you reckon? She is NOT a stable person. I've no idea why they would bring her back. Forget the clone excuse. How about the whole, "working with demons" thing? Especially since I think it was the same demon Cameron Hodge was giving mutant infants to (how they knew the infants were mutants despite the x-gene not activating until puberty for most of them is beyond me).

I have to wonder if Deadpool is trying to be funny or there's actually some meaning behind that sign. Like he's there against his will. I mean, he is a human with no real ties to any mutant on Kraoka. Well, no mutant CURRENTLY on Kraoka...and I'm not sure his daughter would vouch for him when she gets there.

Finally, what IS Juggernaut wearing? It's been a bit, but I don't think his replacement armor looked like that...which suggests that he has another one and I have to wonder how he got that.

The lack of Moira in this image makes me hope there has been what I believe is politely referred to as a "regime change" on Krakoa and that she has been...retired

The answer is no time at all because she's going to be the villain of the next New Mutants arc

Hopefully the Quiet Council will learn a lesson from this and that lesson is: This is what happens when you listen to a goddamn moron like Alex Summers

He's got ties to quite a few mutants on Krakoa.

Isn't Juggernaut's look tied to the whole Evil Gem of Evil he gets his powers from?

Perhaps the new look is a sign that he's now getting his powers from somewhere better than the demon god of Break Everything here?

For whatever reason, Krakoa has decided that "Terrible person who will inevitably betray us and it'll all end in tears," is not a valid reason to refrain from resurrecting someone and inviting them to live on Fully Automated Luxury Queer Poly Mutant Paradise Island, hence the need to invent categories like "Clone... no clones. Er... except the Cuckoos. And Gabby. You guys are fine. No red-headed Goblin clones named Maddy. That's the rule. At least until we need to stop Alex throwing a wibble."

Interesting that Juggernaut and Deadpool are there, suggesting they'll have a real role in the line, making them the first humans besides Northstar's husband Kyle to do anything significant.

Daken appears to be approximately two men wide, and I'm not sure if that's just a weird artistic choice to drastically change what kind of sexy he's supposed to be, or Daken Getting Swole is about to be a narrative beat.

Blindfold being back seems significant and probably tied to Legion of X.

Beast looking a little retro has been a bit of a trend in the X-Force art, but seeing it so clearly here could suggest that he is indeed about to get "reset" to a less morally compromised backup, just as the character has worried he might be.

The actual title lineup looks about what we might have expected, those books which aren't familiar are pretty clearly continuations of some of the cancelled ones. Immortal X-Men as a title would seem to suggest that Urich or some other party is going to spill the beans on mutant resurrection at some point. Hellions seems to be the only notable absence, which is a shame, because I think it's been one of the more interesting looks at Krakoa.

Overall, looks neat. These sort of mini eras and initiatives are becoming a regular (and therefore unexciting) part of the X-line, and the seeming move away from Hickman's big arc in favour of the collaborative approach doesn't grab me. Hopefully it's good.

Guy in the upper far right is the short-lived 80s character they recently made a deal of bringing back, yeah? I cannot remember his name for the life of me but I recognize the design.

Yup, that's Somnus, but the hook was he's not actually an 80's character, he never existed before his recent introduction but was retconned in as being around in the 80's, like the Sentry or Triumph.
