Sonic the Hedgehog #9 — "The Battle for Angel Island, part 1"

While Knuckles was preoccupied with his responsibilities to the Resistance on the surface world, Metal Sonic discovered the location to Angel Island and was free to conquer and convert it right under everyone’s noses. Sonic and company now coordinate an assault to take it back and stop Metal from harnessing the power of the Master Emerald.

















Amidst the chaos, Amy learns from Rouge that Shadow has snuck off from the rest of the team to do his own thing. Meanwhile, Sonic and Knuckles have made their way to the shrine of the Master Emerald.

Uncertain whether this is Metal's most stylish moment, or Captain Metal.

Lots of great bits in the flying scenes.
Charmy struggling to hold Es and Vector.
("Would you rely on the flying skills of a ten kilogram bee?")

Captain Metal was a mess, wasn't he? Banged up and haphazardly repaired? I'd say this is his most stylish. It's the coat, really.

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but he kind of reminds me of one of the evil Starkillers from the Force Unleashed games with that tailcoat and the backstory he has here.

And for music, I'd have gone with like a Doomsday Zone remix, since that music doubled as the boss battle music for Super Mecha Sonic.

You know, that’s funny, I WAS going to go with The Doomsday Zone, but for whatever reason I didn’t do it. Probably because I was listening to Big Arms while writing this and that bled through. P

I’ll probably use The Doomsday Zone for the next issue since that’s the one with the fighting in full swing.

Given that this is just the first round, Big Arms works better. Metal hasn't even gotten started yet. That's when Doomsday Zone comes about.

Can't Knuckles just shut Neo Metal Sonic down now? Ask the Master Emerald real nicely to take the power back?

Neo Metal Sonic has built that throne/cage thingamabob over it, that’s probably futzing with things. Knuckles has an instinctual and spiritual connection to the Master Emerald (he was able to sense something was terribly wrong just before Sonic and Silver got in touch with him in the last issue), that he hasn’t tried anything like that already probably means he can’t do it.

EDIT: I just remembered he also didn’t/couldn’t do that against Eggman or Mecha Sonic in S3&K when they stole the powers of the Master Emerald.
