A deleted scene from 'The Batman' featuring Barry Keoghan as the Joker has been released, giving us a better look at Mistah J.
Even taking into consideration that this is a "proto-Joker" (per Reeves, he hasn't become Joker yet)... I am not feeling this look at all. Between this and Gotham, I have no idea why people are insistent on making Joker hideous and covered in prosthetics. It's completely unnecessary. Joaquin Phoenix didn't need to look like he rubbed his face with a cheese grater to win an Oscar for playing the Joker.

However, the more I think about it - and this scene ads to this, every interaction was spot on. And the police (likely grudgingly) allowing Batman to enter Arkham really matches the comics well (late 80's/90's at least), just like the rest of the movie, where the police kind of know they need him but he is still a vigilante and not following their rules. That part was super well done.

If futre films do use the Joker I hope they don't go with this design
The comic look can already be creepy if done right it doesn't need to be turned into The Clown from Spawn to make it more frightening
