Excellent story arc, but damn it, where's Sally, Bunny and the rest?

They were created for the SatAM cartoon. This book is based on the games’ canon. SEGA doesn’t like it for their continuities to mix, so what happens in SatAM has to stay in SatAM (same goes for all the other cartoons/comics/movies/what have you).

To be fair, they were in the Archie comics because (if I’m not mistaken) the Archie comics began as a tie-in to the show and by some miracle it somehow managed to outlast its source material by over two decades. Even if it weren’t for Ken Penders’ legal spats, I doubt characters like Julie-Su or Shard or Scourge or Mammoth Mogul would ever show up outside of stuff like Sonic Dash or something.

Yeah, I've seen the list of the characters that were lost in the Ken Penders suit, and the impression I got was less that Sega dropped the ball, and more Sega didn't consider it worth their time to fight Penders for a bunch of shitty minor characters they had no interest in.

I want an Omega solo mini series. Or at least what Team Dark gets into on their own time. Maybe have Shadow written with a tiny bit respect for the character. Why did SEGA demand he be written like the Shadow from Sonic Boom? He was written to be unreasonably edgy as a JOKE. Now he's being written unreasonably edgy to the detriment of those around him.

He's actually been written as the Jerk Rival with no redeeming qualities since Sonic Free Riders. In fact, the characterization of a lot of characters have been dumbed down since that game, probably because Sega doesn't want to make the games more complicated for potential newcomers. That and the guys who were taking over writing at the time admitted they didn't know much about Sonic.

How hard is it to check a wiki? Besides, he wasn't written that bad in Sonic Forces.

There were a few cut lines that put him more in line with his Free Riders/Generations characterisation than his usual one. Then again, they were probably cut for a reason.

...well, I say usual, but come to think of things at this point Shadow’s probably been bootleg Vegeta just as long as he was his pre-Free Riders self, if not longer.

Sonic hoping that Eggman might come around leaves me pining for the Kintobor origin (not a creation of Sonic the Comic, btw), with the idea that Sonic wants his old friend back.

Ah yes, the original Sonic Bible Eggman Origin, where Robotnik was originally a kind scientist and friend of Sonic until an accident with the chaos emeralds crossed him with a rotten egg.

It's a little weird that after a year (and a bit) of the Metal Virus, the wrap-up storyline is two issues.
Wondering if that's because of the change in writers, or someone at Sega with their strange and oft inexplicable demands.

IDW Blaze's dimension seems to be in a lot better shape than Archie Blaze's dimension.
Definitely seems to have a lot less robot pirates running around.
... not entirely sure that's good or bad. It be what it be.

Rouge's expression in that group hug is an unusual one...

Rouge counter-stealing before the birds can get there is great.

As is Eggman being petulant.

I think this was meant as a nice breather story after such a long epic tale with lots of big emotional beats
