Issue #3'd had Levi Kamei, the newly chosen representative of that unification of plant life, and his friend Jennifer pulled into it in their quest to understand what was happening to Levi.
There, they'd met others long steeped in that realm - he'd met Poison Ivy, and she'd met the Floronic Man.
Now, Levi was meeting Alec Holland, his predecessor - and learning about " the contagion " spreading in the Green.
Holland described the Green as " the collective memory of all things green, across life and death. "

Holland answered Levi.

" .. but yours is now to act. "
(The Wodewos is the giant seen in #3.
The term, in older English, is roughly " man of the forest " - or " wild man. ")
Levi made for the Wodewos, buffeted by the storm around it.
Someone reached out to help him - the friendlier aspect of Poison Ivy he'd met, Ivy.

(That lesson was in #1.)
' Ivy aids me.. anchoring the creature.. to the ground.. buying me time.
' And so.. I put out my hands..
' And I reach. '

' What have you done.. Jacob? '
Elsewhere, away from Levi and the Wodewos, Jennifer was running from the Floronic Man.
She ran into Levi, who'd succeeded in calming the ancient avatar - Levi, in the green form she'd only heard him describe.
She fainted - Levi caught her in his arms, regarded the Floronic Man who'd caught up to her and was taking the both of them in.
" You..
" I.. know you.. "

Levi and Jennifer were back in their world - back in the laboratory from which they'd come, where Jennifer'd been trying to help Levi figure out what was going on with him.
They cleaned up the evidence of Levi's latest transformation from flesh to green - but not enough that investigators, after the fact, couldn't find anything.
These investigators were working for Prescot Industries, the owner of the laboratory, the employer of Levi and Jennifer.
What they found went to a high-up Prescot man.

Amanda Waller responded.

(That's the regulars of the Suicide Squad run ending this month behind Waller - to the reader right's Peacemaker, Culebra, and an alternate reality version of the Batman villain Nocturna.
To the reader's left is William Cobb, the Talon of the Court of Owls that's Nightwing's great-grandfather.
Of them, Peacemaker will be the only Squad regular making further appearances in this book.
Pagecount here's 7 and a little more than a quarter of 22 from The Swamp Thing #4, released back in June 2021.
Writing's Ram V, art's Mike Perkins, colors're Mike Spicer, and letters're Aditya Bidikar.
Publisher's DC.)

Date: 2022-05-07 08:33 pm (UTC)But when the Green needed him most, he vanished!
But Swamp Thing still believes that somehow, the Avatar will return to save the world!
Wait King Shark is dead?
Noooooooo :(
The Floronic Man hasn't changed I see. He's still an absolute weirdo
I maintain that the best version of the Floronic Man was the one from the hilarious anti drug PSA Batman story where he was powered by weed and planning to get the whole planet stoned on Super Dope which ended with a mind blowingly hilarious scene where Tim Drake gives a "Beware the Horrors of Weed" lecture to the reader
I mean to his high school class, can't think why I said "To the reader". In my defence I am high right now
If anyone hasn't read it it was called Leaves of Grass and it's worth tracking down. It makes Reefer Madness look downright sane
