'This is about rescue and discovery. I’m a Star Trek fan. This is not a Star Trek book, but this is a team that has a mission and is going to go where they need to go, not where the people want them to go. And we’ve got a headstrong captain who is absolutely willing to die to save even one mutant life. ' - Steve Orlando

So, has the Fraternity of Raptors announced their trademark infringement case yet?

And El Cucuy (from Unstoppable Wasp) for the 'neon smiley face over illusory duplicate' look.

Would be hilarious if they actually were thinking of that and the Fraternity shows up and starts fighting the Kin Crimson.

Always awkward for an ancient conspiracy to take a few years off, come back and find some bunch of jerks have stolen their gimmick.

Sadly, we probably won't get Erik and one of the Raptors ineffectually slapping one another...

Between the art and the dialogue I feel like I'm reading a Saturday morning cartoon.

"What's the worst that could happen," is like "At least it's not raining," "What's this button do," and "Let's split up gang," nothing good comes from doing so.

Well, with "Let's split up gang" you might get a Scooby snack.

Nothing bad has ever come from saying, "Let's split up gang". "Scooby Doo Where are You?" never would have made it past season one otherwise.

Scooby and Shaggy certainly never really like the end result because their attempts at getting a snack are always thwarted by the monster of the week, and they get chased around.

After so many times, it's got to get tiring.

Tiring, perhaps, but those calories aren't going to burn themselves off.

I mean, Shaggy did eat "double triple-decker sardine and marshmallow fudge sandwiches," back in the day. Though running that off seems a recipe for getting sick to the stomach.

Then again, maybe Shaggy's got a fast metabolism?

"Seeker 3000" remake? So, fiction within Marvel Comics is gathered from other fiction Marvel Comics published? It isn't a BAD idea. In "Big Hero Six," Fred was a fan of Howard Chaykin's Monark Starstalker.

And it is amusing to wonder what fiction the fictional heroes watch to unwind. The Star Wars LEGENDS continuity said there was a popular holodrama series called Battlesun Odyssey. (These days, holodrama series in the Galaxy Far Far Away probably have longtime fans griping about perceived continuity and characterization issues. See what I did there?)

There's comics of the comics in 616. They're also classified as legal documents.

Though I guess those fall under non-fiction there.

Loving the art here. The faces are sometimes off, but it's so dynamic!

Somehow it only occured to me now that Xandra has Deathbird AND Cassie as aunts.
You thought Maximoff family dinners were tense? Wait for the next Thansgiving at Xavier's with Deathbird, Cassandra Nova, Legion and Juggernaut.
Who'll be the first to provoke a diplomatic incident with a joke about the turkey? Will Ruth ever forgive David for inviting her? How many of Charles' secret children will show up?

So all this time, Erik the Red was a dude pretending to be a dude pretending to be another dude?
Like, why is he using an alias over an alias when dealing with an alien species who were highly unlikely to learn his real name in the first place?
(Or is this like in Doctor Who when the Master puts on a totally unnecessary disguise, and he's just doing it for the dramatic reveal factor?)

Given the things the Shi'ar usually have no problem doing, one could wonder what is these super-edgy edge-lords have edgily done that was so extreme they had to cover it up...
Or these ten incidents are actually tremendous screw-ups, and they're covering them up to stop Xandra facepalming herself to an early grave.

So, uh... just out of curiosity, but has Kate brought up how among the many, many victims of Genosha, that country full of Mutants Cassandra wiped out that one time, one of them was her father?
Because her willingness to defend Cassandra in that light is... um...
Then again, the whole thing is plenty 'um'.

(and with the change in art style finally realising that Tempo's helmet is supposed to look like it's a gear! Not a chicken!
Gosh, that shouldn't have taken that long...
... but in fairness, it really did make her look chicken-y.)

OMG it was supposed to be a gear! That makes way more sense.

Honestly, they could do a lot more with her costume. Her original design wasn't Liefeld's most inspired design - just a gold bodysuit and a bucket helmet. At least give her wrist and ankle gears or something.

Wait, Tempo's one of Liefield's?!
*checks*
Huh. She is.
But her design's so... minimalist!
She's not even got a belt, or a pouch or anything.

But yeah, it's not exactly a stand-out one.
Maybe making it a bit more obvious that she's someone with time-related powers would help?

I think she brought it up in the previous issue when she was recruiting Nova. Your usual "You know some secrets I want to know but you also murdered my father for fun gosh this is such a tough moral confli- never mind let's team up". I second your um.

Also, good call on the gear-helmet. I thought it was just an attempt to move away from her previous helmet that looked like an upside down fried chicken bucket. Conservation of chickenyness.

Yes, she brought that up in the first issue.
