He was talking to his cousin from Sonora, in an off-the-books facility she'd been taken to.
Back in Latveria, Sam and Wade's banter turned to the bounty that explained why Wade was currently in Latveria:
Back in America, that off-the-books facility came under attack by mercenaries employed by the White Wolf and Crossbones.
That triggered an explosion.
In Latveria, Sam and Wade were getting out via Sam's exfiltration.
They found their egress blocked.
In the face of Latveria's aerial presence, they descended to the Earth.
