"This is so much fun," Steve Orlando chortled, as one character prepared to brutally murder another, "What an irreverent romp I'm writing. People will really appreciate the humor in this," He said, as he plotted out a panel of a sociopathic child begging a religious fanatic for the life of an amoral scientist. "Because it's SO funny."
Egads. Was the mutant called CURSE actually a bad thing to have around? Could it be that the reason doing good things with her powers makes her sick is because her body is constantly altering things for the worse on an exponential scale? Basically Black Cat when she first got her bad luck powers from Kingpin?
So is the goal of "nature" in these books maximum biodiversity? Because I am having a hard time reconciling good old "survival of the fittest, kill or be killed" with "we don't kill animals".
Aww, is the poor widdle kid who thinks murdering is fun upset now that their friends are killing each other? Boo. Hoo.
With the tone of this series being so variable, I can't tell if the author intends for us to feel sorry for Curse, or if the minor surge of schadenfreude I'm experiencing is the correct interpretation.
* Annalee the Morlock mom taking care of all the abandoned babies on Genosha. Not to mention her own kids, who were slaughtered by the Marauders.
* Bulk and Glow Worm, mutants who were true "children of the atom" in that they were so radioactive even the Morlocks wouldn't take them in.
* Chance, the mutant street rat who could cancel or enhance other mutant's powers. Double points if she shows up with her girlfriend, Ariel the alien mutant from Coconut Grove.
* The mutants from Heartbreak Hotel, including Link the mime, Mickey the Poltergeist, and Lucy, who could change the color of objects.
* Razorback, the mutant who could drive or fly any vehicle (including any spaceship!)
