For those who’ve seen it, what did you think?
I thought it was a decent film overall. The Rock gives a pretty fun performance as Black Adam. I suppose his detractors will say he’s just playing himself but I thought he did a good job playing Adam as someone who doesn’t put up with bullshit and won’t let people stand in his way. He also has moments of deadpan humor that are actually pretty funny.
I imagine Christopher Priest is gnashing his teeth at this film as Black Adam is for all intents a PG-13 antihero here. He kills bad guys and he comes into conflict with the JSA over ‘killing is wrong’ but they just end up looking buffoonish like Colossus in the first Deadpool film. To the film’s credit it doesn’t shy away from Black Adam’s violence; there are a number of limbs torn off in his first scene alone.
The movie also sets up some interesting plot developments for the DCEU. Viola Davis is back as Amanda Waller and there are some other appearances I won’t spoil. I’m definitely interested to see how Adam fits in with the larger universe moving forward.

Like as much as there was to enjoy, there were so stupid sequences that I still crack up laughing just thinking about it. Like they establish in the start that Black Adam can be hurt by Eternium rockets, yet that did not matter in anything in the rest of the movie. Could go on and on on that front. Also I can't stress how much how I roll my eyes at the concept of how it takes that special hero to be able to kill someone.
At the end, that final surprise cameo was among my favorite moments of the film. Man I love that guy in that role.
