Rutland, Vermont: Cheeky fun or self-indulgent guff?

The town of Rutland, Vermont used to hold an annual Halloween parade with people dressed as superheroes. Several comic creators attended one year and thought it would be a jolly jape to use the parade as a backdrop for an unofficial inter-company crossover. It all began in Amazing Tales #16 by Steve Englehart, then continued in Justice League of America by Len Wein. Then it was Gerry Conway's turn in Thor #207.

The creators seen here are Gerry Conway, Steve Englehart and Len and Glynis Wein.

I remember reading the Justice League part of this story back in the day, but never saw the corresponding Thor issue. It's pretty clever how they connect at various points (e.g., that's Felix Faust stealing Steve's car, as seen in JLA).

Also funny that Conway used "Power Girl" as the name of his Supergirl expy -- I guess the name must've stuck in his head, since he used it again when he introduced Kara Zor-L in All-Star Comics a few years later.

I'm the other way around. I have read the Amazing Adventures/Thor parts, but not the Justice League.

It's worth seeking out. Crossover aside, it's a solid issue in general. Has a real spooky/Halloween vibe. The Wein/Dillin issues are one of the all-time best JLA runs, IMHO.
