I unironically love this take on the Serpent Squad as it grew into the Serpent Society, it's a genuinely novel concept for a villain team, and the fact that the folks behind the masks actually like each other predates the "We're just a bunch of folks who do crimes and happen to have powers" aspect of the Flash's Rogues by a couple of years.

Yep, I get a kick out of the Serpent Society too. Also the first instance of Mark Gruenwald assembling a team of villains around a certain theme.

Unlike the previous version of the Serpent Squad, this one actually has villains themed around snakes. I mean, the Eel? Warlord Krang's presence due to his history with the Serpent Crown is stretching a bit as well.

I loved the Serpent Society also. Especially since Gruenwald brought in a whole bunch of new snake-themed villains as well, both legit and Viper's infiltrators. Just to corner the market on every snake-themed villain possible, I guess.

Gruenwald wasn't always the best writer, but damn he was consistently entertaining, and his Cap run remains a gold standard.
