While the story is technically issue #25, it starts in #22 with the idea being slipped in as Barda continues to try and get their new place in some kind of order, Scott and Shilo talk about Shilo's new suit, and Oberon watches TV.

So the idea is subconsciously implanted, but mostly ignored in favor of spying.
In the next issue, Shilo comes over again so Scott and him can try to get the mother box to accept Shilo. As they do...

Barda begins her hunt for a job in NY.

It goes a bit slow, I like how she's apparently looking for a listing for 'warrior', but then she gets a bit of inspiration.

Which brings us into #24, Scott explains his new job of training Shilo, so Barda decides to share the good news on her way out the door.

With that, her and Oberon head over to see about getting a job.

So it seems she's got a chance. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your views, Barda has never considered the concept of faking a fight/just putting on a show.

Poor Amazon Angel, never stood a chance.

But, she's in!
Which brings us to #25.

Needless to say, with Barda in the ring, the other wrestlers don't stand a chance.
Unfortunately this causes some problems as we find out the Triple B-W fakes the matches and decides the winners. As is expected, Barda, especially when fuming mad because Scott had taken off with the JLA without notice and won't return her calls/show up to any of her matches, doesn't like the idea of being told to lose.

So she continues to be victorious.
Yet things get worse as Barda finds out some of the women are being treated poorly and so, after beating up one of the boss's men for hitting one of them/pulling a gun on her, she manages to inspire the other wrestlers to stop playing games.

So they fight for real this time.

Of course Barda still wins, but she's nice about it.

Alas, the owners don't exactly like this change in plans, despite Barda's inevitable popularity...

...so they give the next wrestler, the first one Barda beat, a belt that would make her strong enough to face the Female Fury.

But she's Big Barda.
So she wins(after saving the other wrestler and herself from yet another guy with a gun), and we find out where the hell that belt came from.

Oh, Granny...
Anyway, the day saved(?), Barda and the other woman of the Triple B-W go to visit the trainer/manager?, having been beaten up by the bad guys earlier, and he tells them that it's great they did good but the Triple B-W is done for. It's okay though, Barda has a better idea.

Of course, they agree, which is why the loft had been converted to a gym by the time Scott got back. :)

Date: 2009-11-30 01:29 pm (UTC)One problem I have with this plot (and a *lot* of other pro-wrestling plots) is the weird thing where they only tell someone that it's faked after a match or two.

Because if they had to stay in the regular universe they would probably end up being killed or maimed or sexually assaulted or something like that, sooner or later. At least now they're together in a place beyond those horrible things.
Until the next crossover, that is.

We also had the Grapplers, the all girl wrestling troupe, whose membership including Screaming Mimi, who later became Songbird.
