More Renee and Helena from the Question back-up. Oh, and a big old spoiler.

For the second month, I've enjoyed the Question back-up more than the lead story in 'Tec. Which is good for Renee but gives me concern for Kate. Apparently DC is now undecided about giving Batwoman her own book. It looked like a lock when Rucka mentioned it in an interview earlier this year. And there was some confirmation of the book by Ian Sattler at the Emerald City Con. Kate will now have another arc in 'Tec starting in July. It's not clear to me if Batwoman has the lead story as The Question was mentioned first in the mention made in the June solicits. I have no idea why DC has changed its mind about giving Batwoman her own title. I wonder if they feel the book is too dependent on Rucka and Williams? Or maybe they are waiting until after the Return of Bruce Wayne? There's another reason, of course. But I'm hoping DC is smarter and better than that.

Anyway, back to the Question. Last issue the lovely ladies were heading off to Oolong Island. This issue opens with them being tortured -- in their bras. Renee, in Jockey sports bra, gets waterboarded. Hel, in La Perla lace, has a Scorpion put on her face. The torture stops when they are told the boss lady wants to see them.

I love the look on their faces there. Totally shipping these two. Oh, and that is Veronica Cale. Who wasn't quite as awesome in this issue as I remember her being in Wonder Woman. They convince Cale to give up the top of the organization and they go off to find him in Syria.

Who could it be?

Well, not a guess I had. Vandal's return could create some interesting stories. He and Cheshire have worked together more than once and she's coming back in Dark Titans. Roy is related to him. And, of course, Scandal's over in the Six.

Well, that would be kind of obvious - he was in the opening scenes of Final Crisis, with Anthro, and RoBW #1 is set just after Old Man Anthro's death.

To be fair, Revelations (and Requiem, too) was one of the better tie-ins. Aside from my personal dislike for Phillip Tan, that is.

I haven't been keeping up with this title, but The Question has one of the coolest costumes.

Also, did Huntress get a re-design? I like how that the costume actually has some armor while still giving room to be flexible.

It's been this way for a bit and I like it too - it's more effective than the belly suit and others she's had.

i love my 'Tec

But now that I can't post the Q back-up, maybe I should post the other thing I was hoping would happen in the main feature!

I love these gorgeous ladies, but both of them need to pluck their eyebrows like whoa. Those caterpillars are taking over their faces.

Although they've been tortured for awhile, so I guess they can have a pass.

I must be the only male that hates it when women pluck their eyebrows.

Then again, I live in a place where sharpie eyebrows are common.

I don't mind there eyebrows. I'm actually getting a Jennifer Connelly vibe from Huntress in this art.

There's full and then there's bushy. These are easily the latter.

I don't think DC has changed their mind. Maybe they're going to make Detective Comics the Batwoman title.

I'd never read that Batwoman was getting a title other than "Detective", but the switching of lead and backup was announced awhile back. I assumed I'd have dropped the title by then, so I didn't look any further into it.

I wonder if anyone's going to be nice enough to inform Mister Savage that he set his eyebrows on fire again.

This attempt at splicing Batman with Batwoman gives me the impression that DC doesn't have much faith in her character. What's the ultimate point of putting Batman in there anyways? I never understood it. I miss the Batwoman dedicated stories. I don't need Batman to cram the idea into my head that she's just like him. I don't even want to think that.

While I can understand Rucka wanting to follow up on FC: Revelations, I was enjoying Renee as a street-level hero.

Oh well, he probably won't be around long.

Thanks in part to this community and to Garth Ennis, I can't look at this without thinking of Vandal Savage being Crossed (and him wielding a phallic weapon underneath that robe. >_< ).

Since when has Vandal Savage had anything to do with religion? I mean, the burning cross on his forehead, the monkish robes, the 'gift from God' speech - it's pretty clear that something of the sort is going on here, yes?
Also, I know I sound like a broken record here, but hot damn, do I hate the way Renee's facial shadows are drawn. In that first full-on close-up of her in costume, it looks like she has Azrael's old logo being projected across her face.
