Read or Dream - more with Anita and her nemesis.

Following up on this post, where we were introduced to the only real recurring villain in Read or Dream. Anita, defeated in their first encounter, swore revenge...so, let's continue the story...

So. after being defeated by Lily the Reader Extraordinaire, Anita, Mr Tsai and...and... ... Y'know, the other dude is never actually named. Go fig.

So, anyway, Anita, Mr Tsai and the unnamed jerkass dude go and discuss what to do next. But, before we get to that, a brief interlude with Lily...


... I want to hug her. Bad guys should not engender a desire to hug!

Anyway, back to Anita and the guys...


At first, jerkass refuses, because Anita's a kid, but she's persistent, and between that and Mr Tsai pointing out that it's the best way to keep everything quiet, he eventually allows it...so they then focus on how to find Lily.... (Also, holy god, I just realized I've been reading Mr Tsai's dialogue in Professor Oak's voice... It really fits him, though.)




Mr Tsai go to find the buyer in a rather funny sequence that I've had to cut for space. He tells them where Lily is, and Anita goes (alone), to stake the place out...in another funny sequence that I've had to cut.

Lily doesn't come and go a lot, so Anita waits for a good long while, and eventually falls asleep, and dreams....



:( Abandonment issues, Anita has them.

But, wait...who's that shadow...


Tune in tomorrow for their final showdown!

As a sidenote, I considered marking this as a 30 Days of Scans post for today, since Anita and Lily's outfits are pretty awesome, are they not?

Thanks for posting these! I just finished watching the anime, and utterly adored it, especially Anita, so it's great to see what the manga's like. :)

I love Anita so very, very much. And you should totally grab the manga. It is great, and very Anita-centric.

Anita's outfit design is somewhere between fighter and shmup; I half wonder if she's going to throw two ultras in a row or an implacable hail of bullets

I had to read your post twice, before I figured out what 'shmup' meant...

It's the thigh-holsters for her paper that give it a shmuppy look, isn't it?
