Date: 2010-11-24 08:39 pm (UTC)Thing is, you guys talked about her needing an advocate, and I know Parse and I have talked about that here, too, and ultimately I think what it comes down to is that I'm pretty sure that if Geoff Johns did like Diana instead of Hal, he simply wouldn't have been given the freedom he was. Actually I suspect he wouldn't even be Geoff Johns in the first place - it seems to me that the kind of person who likes the kind of character that Diana is, is the kind of person who simply doesn't become a keys-to-the-universe Big Name In The Industry like your Johns/Morrison/Bendis types, and is therefore never going to be in a position to advocate the way Johns did for Hal or Bendis for Luke Cage.
Which means, really, DC is right not to trust her; her character and her stories don't click with the people who move books, either on the writing end or the reading end. If only they understood that the solution to that is to embrace a bigger audience, like, I dunno, the American moviegoing population.

In my heart I would love for someone like Gayle Ann Hurd or even Diane Lewis to have a deep love and understanding of Wonder Woman and push to get the movie made.
But as long as Jeff Robinov is at Warner Brothers you have to question whether there's ever going to be a Wonder Woman movie.
