Full Line-Up for the DC Relaunched Justice League Revealed

A comic book related glass making company called "Toon Tumblers" released on their Facebook page what appears to be Jim Lee's promotional spread for the new Justice League, part of which will be used on drinking glasses given out at this years San Diego Comic Con. As a result, we now have the complete line-up of the Justice League in the wake of the relaunch:



In the center, going from left to right, are the seven members we already know:

• Aquaman
• Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
• Wonder Woman
• Superman
• Batman (Bruce Wayne)
• The Flash (Barry Allen)
• Cyborg

On the left side of the image, going from top to bottom, we have four additional members:

• Deadman
• The Atom (Ray Palmer)
• Element Woman (from Flashpoint: Secret Seven)
• Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond and Jason Rusch)

And on the right side, going from top to bottom, we have four more:

• Green Arrow
• Hawkman (Carter Hall)
• A woman who could be either Zealot, Power Girl, or Miranda Shrieve (from Flashpoint: Frankenstein and the Creatures of the Unknown)
• Mera

Call me crazy, but for some reason the redesigned costumes look a whole lot better when Jim Lee draws them.  Anyway, what do folks think?

Y'know what gets to me?

Superman and Batman no longer have underwear on the outside...but I can clearly see the lines where they're drawn in. Just not coloured right.

Is it weird that this aggravates me?

Two things:
1. The male heroes seem to all have prominent bulges out front.
1a. You'd think the non-steel among them would want to protect that area.
2b. How many of them stuff?

2. I still don't like Wonder Woman's new costume. Aside from it being cut too low, it doesn't look bad as a costume, but it's not Wonder Woman's costume. Yes, Superman and Batman also have had their costumes redesigned, but they're still recognizable as Superman and Batman.

2b. Definitely Aquaman and Batman, LOL. Especially Aquaman, Batman could maybe be passed off as having armoring that ended up more prominent-looking than intended without stretching things too much. Probably Flash. Cyborg's armored nearly everywhere, so he's exempt. I don't think Green Lantern does (Considering that his crotch kind of looks like Wonder Woman's, and she's, y'know, a woman). Superman... is just that super, LOL.

2. I'm happy Wonder Woman has pants. I'm not happy that her shirt doesn't appear to be the correct size, and leaves more of her breasts exposed than it covers. I think it would look more like a Wonder Woman costume, as opposed to just a female superhero uniform that is impractically low-cut but otherwise not too bad, if they'd have stuck with a dark blue instead of the black, and used gold rather than silver, except on her gauntlets (and maybe they could put a single small-ish gold or silver star as her belt buckle, to complement the red one on her tiara without overwhelming with a sense of flag-ness?). If the color palette was adjusted a little (the boots could stay black, or get turned red or blue, I don't care, just make her pants two shades darker than Superman's and turn the silver that isn't her gauntlets gold), and her shirt only showed a small amount of cleavage and had maybe some sort of straps, I'd be pretty happy.

The costumes . . . not terrible, I suppose, but none of the designs seem to be particularly interesting. They're cluttered, I think.

Don't think he's quite League level, either, and how are they going to have him be a part of the cast, the way his possession power works? (Whatever happened to Aliveman, anyway?)

Which means Jean Loring will inevitably appear one day to destroy the League. Instead of Giganta inevitably appearing to date Ryan Choi.

Any of the senior Titans have long since been Justice League material. But this is a new universe, so maybe Cyborg has more experience or something.

Maybe Mera is taking a page from the Young Justice cartoon and is the team's sorceress.

Batman and Aquaman seem to have the biggest bulges on the team. I'm not sure what to think of this. And why is Superman's costume all segmented with lots of little lines everywhere? There's no reason for him to be armored, so what gives?

I really like Wonder Woman's costume, although I wish the top half went high enough to prevent unfortunate wardrobe malfunctions. She's joined the shiny pants brigade!

I can see the bulges, sure, but these characters have been drawn to look like Ken dolls for so long that them having XL bulges is actually an IMPROVEMENT.

It's not like Robinson's JLA was any good, but it at least had characters in it that I liked. This one can't even manage to get the right Flash in there. Where's Wally?

As a Power Girl fan, I'm hoping that it's not Power Girl.

I don't want my favourite character to only appear as a background character, getting two or three lines of dialogue an issue and have her character development reduced to "I'll do the punching."

Wow! You nailed it when every comic news source dropped the ball. Has to be Miranda Shrieve. Even wearing the same clothes as her comicvine image. Everyone else wants it to be Black Canary or Power Girl but the former has a much different outfit in Birds of Prey and DC editorial implied PG is not in any relaunch (well, they said no JSA).

And I know that everyone else is mentioning it, but why the heck is Supes wearing armor? Also, does he look a lot younger than usual, or is it just me?

Everytime I see Deadman now I get all sad thinking about how much he was jerked around and totally screwed over in Brightest Day. :(

Superman does look way younger than usual to me too. I mean, WTF, he kind of looks like if Kon raided Clark's closet, and forgot the red speedo. I forgot to say something earlier. And I agree with the counter-intuitive no-outside-undies = more crotch-staring, WTF. And Wonder Woman does need a shirt that fits right and has straps. At least this one doesn't have the swimsuit type bottom that keeps getting turned into a thong. I kind of feel like, even for a superhero (who can generally get away with wearing in public things that would get most people looked at strangely, without anyone batting an eye), a thong is something to wear as an undergarment only, and one is missing a layer of clothing if its entirety is immediately visible (as opposed to being seen partly by accident if the wearer forgets to wear a belt with trousers that should be worn with a belt).

The first thing I notice is that Superman's costume is simultaneously hideous and ridiculous. I actually like Wonder Woman's costume when it's drawn by Cliff Chiang (although I still want the Joan Jett-style costume he drew for her to be her actual, canonical costume), although it still does need shoulder straps, but here it looks laughably bad. The other costumes don't look different enough from the classic costumes to be interesting in any way.

This membership roster doesn't interest me. With a few additions, this basically looks like League-classic to me, which, frankly, seems to vitiate the whole idea of a reboot, or whatever they're calling this now. Why bother with making radical changes if you're not actually going to make radical changes?

I'm not sure I can get behind any of these costumes. Where even parts of them might work, some other parts just don't for me. (And is Wondy still going to be de-aged?)

I guess I'll just be reading Marvel and some indie stuff for a while. And maybe Red Hood and the Outlaws...
