...Manga Khan had sent Lobo to kill the JLI space team, who were pursuing him to free the captured Mister Miracle, who the Cluster is taking to Apokolips. Barda, not wanting to kill their foe, teleported Lobo out of their hair. Unfortunately, where he landed was the JLI headquarters in New York. Even more unfortunately, he hit Guy Gardner on the head on his way in.

The Earth JLI doesn't know this mysterious visitor, just that he looks mean. They realize their problems are even worse when Guy has announced he's reverted to his old, obnoxious, personality.


The first thing Guy does is throw Lobo through the window, then flies after him. Needless to say, a massive brawl ensues, and the rest of the League rush out before the two of them destroy the neighborhood.









Max decides to make Lobo a provisional member of the team. Batman is opposed to the idea, given that Lobo is an unknown quantity. He's right to be opposed, of course. But, he recognizes that they need more members.

Ice, who has been sweet on Guy, is shocked by his new attitude, despite everyone telling her he was always a jerk, that this is who he actually is, not the nice person she met. He confirms this, himself. Batman sets about recruiting.

Hm, this would be a year, maybe, before Hawkworld came out, and this version of Hawkman was wiped from continuity for a while? I can see why Giffen stopped using the big guns in JLA after that mess.
