Issue #1 was prophecy after Darkseid's passing - the coming of " .. the last avatar.. on [the great steed's] hooves shall follow the reckoning of all " - and charges - Highfather of New Genesis tasking Orion to kill that recently born avatar, and Orion tasking Scott Free to hide that child from him.

Issue #2 opened on the " new hand of darkness " Metron'd related to Highfather - introduced them, emboldened by Darkseid no longer being, as their own thing.

In their own context, they and a leader of theirs were rendered with different art - shown as shadowy menace in #1, they were exposed matter-of-factly in #2.

Their leader had the focus. )

Infinite Crisis was the DC event just before I properly got into reading comics regularly (that was for 52). My local library had all of the tie in trades so I was able to get a flavour of the event.

So I approached Tales from the Dark Multiverse - Infinite Crisis with a lot of curiosity

As with all What If stories, it needs a bit of an understanding of What Was before you get into What Could Have Been

The original... )
The Dark Multiverse version )

Like all what ifs, and Dark Multiverse especially, it squanders the initial premise to give us "and everything was terrible" but this was a good moment

Now, I'm 25 and my DC is the continuity that ran from Legends in 1986 to Flashpoint in 2011. Out of that I got Starman, I got what I think is the best run of JLA ever written (thanks Grant Morrison), I got so many amazing Batman stories with art from greats like Jim Aparo and Graham Nolan, and a run of Superman where he ended up with the woman he was supposed to end up with, and they lived happily... ever... well. You get the idea.

Spoilers for DC Comics from Infinite Crisis onwards under the cut, but this will all dovetail into some stuff about Power Girl.

From Justice League International (80s version) #19

When we last left our heroes...

scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/5194756.html

...Manga Khan had sent Lobo to kill the JLI space team, who were pursuing him to free the captured Mister Miracle, who the Cluster is taking to Apokolips. Barda, not wanting to kill their foe, teleported Lobo out of their hair. Unfortunately, where he landed was the JLI headquarters in New York. Even more unfortunately, he hit Guy Gardner on the head on his way in.

The Earth JLI doesn't know this mysterious visitor, just that he looks mean. They realize their problems are even worse when Guy has announced he's reverted to his old, obnoxious, personality.

Has it been already a week since last time? Anyway, here's some more Heroes! comic strips for you all!
My very first attempt to Heroes-ify Booster Gold. Yeah, it was that bland...

Today I offer you not two, but three more episodes of Archers! and one Superbuddies! - which features my favorite beloved but sadly underrated couple of the whole DCU. And yes, they're both alive in here :P

Ollie will one day get his revenge, Sparta Meme, Sue's pregnant again and Teen Titans cameo after the jump! )

JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST #20 came out in February, and covered Max Lord's motivations. How he went from "manipulative but decent" to "shoot Ted Kord in the head."
A teenaged Max comes home and finds his father dead from an apparent suicide. Max's mother has a different opinion.

"...good people are going to get hurt."

Power and... uh, more power )

In this installment of Bloodlines we get to probably my second favorite of the male Bloodliners (after Joe Public if anyone really wanted to know, or it might be a tie between 'em I tend to go back and forth).

This issue is nice in that it portrays a pretty realistic look on a guy who gets powers after his life has turned to hell, at least to me.

18 pages from a 54 page story.

Beware HIS fears turned into life! )
