Shadow Clones #1 was so weird because the whole thing kicks off with a random incursion of the Sinister Six into Gwen's world, only none of them talk or show any sign of personality, we never learn why they're on her Earth, and there's no particular reason for them to be together in that team configuration.
(Okay, apparently there's only five of them, but still... I don't think there's ever been a time when Doctor Octopus, Kraven, Rhino, Vulture and Sandman have operated as a unit, save maybe as members of a much larger gathering.)
Furthermore, I can't even think of how to place them in continuity, as I'm sure they don't all correspond to current status quos/depictions.
So if there's no explanation whatsoever for this, and the initial scene was literally just to give angry mad science lady the inspiration to make weird Gwen mashups, I'll be annoyed. Even just say "the Beyonder did it" even though right now we have what, 3 different takes on the Beyonder all at the same time?
Also, this "let's mash up Gwen and/or Miles and/or Jessica Jones and/or Doctor Octopus and/or the Avengers with other heroes and/or villains" trend is getting out of hand. What's next, a miniseries that sees Wolverine mashed up with different members of Power Pack?
I mean, not now, for sure. But didn't she start as just another Gwen Stacy Month cover mash-up, or whatever that was, before she proved popular and they gave her a backstory unrelated to Stacy?
