Forever War: GI Joe Yearbook 3

The yearbooks were basically Annuals for GI Joe, reprinting some stories and providing a summary of the year's plotlines. I haven't bothered with them, but this one here has an original story that touches on how Snake Eyes was rescued from the Cobra consulate in New York. Naturally enough, it's a sequel to Silent Interlude.









Scarlet calls in a certain someone for help.





Of course, she isn't just going to sit on the sidelines herself.



Oh yeah, Snake Eyes has a pet wolf. You should know this.

And Snakes is breaking himself out, which... really makes Scarlet look like a bit of an underachiever in the original.

It has to be said: Snake Eyes fucking cheats with high explosives has to one of my favorite ninja running gags.

To be fair to Snake-Eyes, Historical Ninja have a good history of putting explosives and firearms to good use during the Sengoku Jidai.

Gotta "umactually" that "underachiever" claim about Scarlett. She did indeed break herself out of Cobra HQ in the original! Or, rather, she was on the *verge* of escaping, then saw Snake Eyes about to die and made a sacrifice play to save him, only for him to save them both. Still, if he'd just STAYED HOME, there was a pretty good chance she'd have gotten away on her own!

OTOH, Cobra HR beefed up their ninja headcount significantly between that story and this one, so Snake Eyes' evac has to be more involved.
