Yes, they know she's a mutant...because she went out wearing an X on her costume. And she isn't showing solidarity because she IS a mutant. Showing solidarity would be non-mutants wearing an X.
Really, though, the change in Kamala's costume shouldn't be treated as evidence that she's a mutant...because as far as the public should know, it could just be a display of solidarity. It's more than just adding an X in her case; she's modifying the yellow-and-blue design that the original X-Men had.
But either way, that's always been a risk of dressing to show your allyship: if Spider-Man and the Thing showed up to a battle wearing Xes, the internet would probably run the story as SPIDER-MAN AND THE FANTASTIC FOUR REVEALED TO BE MUTANTS.
