I can never see Dead Ringer without hearing the Meatloaf song "Dead Ringer for Love."
Mike Farrell was at the time a pretty obscure choice--a supporting cast member from the days when Cap lived in the same apartment building as Bernie, and yeah, he fell on hard times... joined the Watchdogs, went to prison, etc. It was much later explained that his behavior during this time was due to an undiagnosed brain tumor... guess some writer didn't think it was plausible for a run of the mill firefighter to turn conservative extremist and supervillain.
Naturally, the reason Cap wasn't familiar with Death-Stalker as he was a Daredevil villain, and Matt wasn't exactly sharing case files with the Avengers.
Every time I hear "Dead Ringer" I'm thinking of the sketch show...
Poor DR. A concept born three decades too early. Think about it: The power to imitate dead people. He could make a killing (as it were) working for unscrupulous movie makers whose actors have died unexpectedly... or 'unexpectedly'...
Everybody in this comic really needs to work on keeping their inner monologues inner, don't they?
I am utterly amazed at Dead Ringer's "strategy" to "become someone good." Seems like he'd be better off pulling a heist at some hero gravesite than trying to kill a prominent hero himself, but I guess that's the problem with a universe where no prominent heroes are allowed to die for very long. The supply of heroic corpses just can't meet demand!

Bottom line: If slash, feminism or anti-oppressive practice makes you react negatively, scans_daily is probably not for you.
