"Can you stand against... a giant Arctic owl?!" *Storm just blasts Snowbird with a massive lightning bolt* "Yes. Yes, I can."
Just saying. I don't think Snowbird thought that one through entirely. Storm's dealt with robots, aliens, demons and Wolverine. Why would someone turning into an owl give her pause? (... no, wait. Re-reading Storm's hesitating to use her power, so she can't just turn on the voltage. Never mind. But it's still silly.)
Is this the first mention of Wolverine having been feral before the Hudsons found him? Can't recall if Vindicator's first appearance brought it up or not. Almost there on the General Wolverine Details checklist. Just got to get to Proteus before we learn his bones are laced with adamantium, bub (which makes him practically indestructible!)
Good thing Puck wasn't there, or the X-Men would've lost this fight... (Or maybe Puck would've managed to prevent the fight by being all annoyingly sensible.)
Guardian: “We want to kidnap Wolverine, force him into servitude, and you to be okay with that. In the spirit of compromise, how about we get him Thursday-Saturday and alternating Sundays.”
This was a while before they decided that Snowbird was super-strong in even her human form, and proportionately so in her animal forms. As I recall, she brought down the Wendigo (a Hulk-level opponent) by transforming into a 110 lb. wolverine.
Yeah, because it made her feral to such a degree that Wolverine himself couldn't measure to. That was the justification given in-story, not super-strength.
I remain skeptical that even a triple-sized version of an extremely vicious animal could take down something that throws cars and trees around like pillows and once came through an extended brawl with the Hulk fundamentally unharmed.
The first super-strength I remember was her saving Marinna, breaking the metal with a line like, "Sasquatch isn't the only one with strength" or something like that.
Colossus: "Cyclops is our commander and I know he would defend each of us to the last breath, and would certainly never sells us out to government lackeys. But he and Wolverine were together in coach for ten hours, and he's just been given the golden parachute of a lifetime. I don't know how much temptation one man can withstand..."
