(Though the amount of telegraphing it's doing to suggest that he's OG Bucky... just a red herring or was that actually the plan at some point?)

The consequences aren't quite as bad as with Graviton, but he's still out to take over the world, however he slices it.

It was a good fakeout at the time.
Both the person we were led to believe was behind the mask, and the person it actually was, were indeed believed to be dead at the time, so anything was possible. And either way, it was thematically appropriate for them to kill (a) Zemo.

In retrospect, it’s definitely a bad idea to be Captain America’s sidekick/partner. You’ll wind up frozen in ice, brainwashed, dead,or all of the above.

Yeah. People talk about how Daredevil's a walking doom magnet, but being near Cap doesn't seem like it's conducive to long term health, physical or mental.

Part of this Scourge's gimmick was that he had Pym Particled equipment from deceased villains stored in his gloves, right?

That was a great gimmick.

Pym had a similar gimmick when he was with the West Coast Avengers, operating without a codename. He used Pym particles to shrink scientific equipment and tools so he could always have access to them.
