It always blew my mind that the Dark Phoenix Saga was an almost year long culmination of a four year slow burn, and then three issues later they power through Days of Future Past in two issues and done. Two extremes of spectacular story-telling.
Whilst I absolutely get the reason for the question, in this case, I don't think so. It's the older more cynical Kate seeing her younger more innocent self and just being moved by the difference between them.

He also seems pretty chipper about seeing a dystopian future where Mutants are exterminated or put into camps. ... or maybe he missed that part.
Given the imminent (if not already occurring) breakdown of Byrne and Claremont's ability to work together, and that if memory serves much of this story was Byrne's idea, wondering if the excess verbiage is part of that? (Not much, mind, because... y'know, it is Claremont.)
I seem to recall eventually a lot of hash was made over that "sweep her home" and that one specific word. Which seems a bit pedantic to me, but what do I know.
Granted, the nature of time travel in the Marvel Universe meant this was a fool's errand to begin with, though that wouldn't be formally established for a good while yet.
