Talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and just generally chat among yourselves.

The intent of these posts is to chat and have some fun and, sure, vent a little as required. Reasoned debate is fine, as always, but if you have to ask if something is going over the line, think carefully before posting please.

Normal board rules about conduct and behaviour still apply, of course.

It's been suggested that, if discussing spoilers for recent media events, it might be advisable to consider using the rot13 method to prevent other members seeing spoilers in passing.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than me.

Doctor Who revealed it's season big bad guy, and it's a BIG bad guy, one we haven't seen for around forty nine years, and they got the original actor to return to voice him at the age of 91.

Nintendo Direct thoughts

Not covering everything because there’s a lot for this “dead” system. Just some highlights.

Mario & Luigi: Brothership (November 7, 2024) – The Switch sure did get a lot of Mario RPGs, huh? A little worried because the studio that made the pervious M&L games is gone and people do not seem happy with the direction Paper Mario went in after a while.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition (July 18, 2024) – Remember when Amiibo Tap: Nintendo’s Greatest Bits was a free(ish) game on the Wii U?

Nintendo Switch Sports (Summer 2024) – Basketball will be added as a free update.

Disney Illusion Island and Among Us are getting free updates today.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD (January 16, 2025) – I don’t care about this one but I’m sure others do.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake (November 14, 2024) – Okay, cool…we have a date…unlike DQ XII. Now if only they’d verify that it is getting released outside of Japan because it has been years and I’m still waiting for DQ X Offline.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (2025) – See above comment.

Funko Fusion (September 13, 2024) – Like actual Funko Pops, I assume this game will just spontaneously generate in our homes at some point. At least it doesn’t seem to be a “toys to life” thing … but it feels like it would have been if it came out a few years ago.

Nintendo Online Expansion pack is getting some new games today but no news on the base pack.

Phantom Brave; The Lost Hero (2025) – I guess PB is a franchise now?

Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics (2024) – I was going to say I didn’t know this series HAD seven games but it looks like they’re padding it out with things like X-Men: Children of the Atom and a Punisher beat-em-up. Probably of a lot of interest to people here.

Super Mario Party Jamboree (October 17, 2024) – A third Switch Mario Party. I hope people like this one at least as well as the second one because the first one was really unpopular.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (September 26, 2024) – New top-down Zelda in the style of the 2019 Link’s Awakening remake with a world map that reminds me of Breath of the Wild…and you play as Zelda. Yes, please!

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection (September 6, 2024) – I’m unclear on how this is different from all the other AA collections but I guess at least one of the games is new (to the west).

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (2025) – Hang on, deh_tommy …you have something to live for!

(I wonder if Amazon will honor my seven-year-old preorder price)

Edit: Various listings indicate the Dragon Quest HD-2D games will see the light of day outside of Japan and will have physical copies in some regions.

The Romancing SaGa 2 remake's nice - they might actually be banking on " people love FromSoftware's stuff, so let's redo our old ' RPGs with esoteric systems '! "

I don't have any history with the SaGa games but I don't love it when they remove the turn-based combat from JRPGs. I LIKE turn-based JRPGs.

Metroid Prime 4 was hype enough (especially with *that* particular character showing up!), but Ace Attorney Investigations ports? Mario & Luigi? Too Kyo’s doing a new game already? A Zelda game about Zelda!? MAHVEL BABY!?! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY DANGIT, I NEED THEM NAO

Zelda (Legend of Link?) was the highlight for me by a wide margin.

Also nice to know I didn't hallucinate that Dragon Quest direct from a couple years back.

And Hello Kitty Island Adventure’s coming off of Apple Arcade! Is it weird I’m genuinely excited for that?

Not my cozy game of choice but to each their own.

(That Hobbit game looks like it could become an addiction if I let it, though)

Speaking of cat games, the only reason I didn't mention the Stray port is that it looks like a pretty significant downgrade...

...and because Little Kitty, Big City seems closer to what I hoped that game would be.

I thought the Punisher game was an odd edition to the Marvel Vs. Capcom bundle. I played Marvel Vs. Capcom so much on the PS2. Yeah, playable Cable!

Punisher is such a weird choice.

Kinda makes me want a Capcom Marvel beat-em-up collection, though.

Let's see...it'd have Punisher, Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, and what else?


Edit: Okay, I really underestimated how big the Marvel Vs Capcom news is. So much Morrigan and Spider-Man (and - to a lesser extent - Ryu and Cyclops) fanart online the past couple days.
