Fun with Deadpool

For some reason, Marvel decided to publish a comic starring Deadpool & Wolverine to coincide with the movie, but rather than as a single issue they spread it piecemeal as backups in various ongoing series. Over eight parts. Given that I did not alter my purchasing habits just to find the whole story, I only got three of the eight parts.




But there were ALSO numerous parody adverts sprinkled through issues - I found only one in an X-Traction branded issue, and another in the first issue of Ultraman X Avengers, so I have NO IDEA how many of them are out there.

Here are the two I have, based on ads that are NOT cake-related, for once. Written by Ryan North.

The one in Vengeance of the Moon Knight #7 was particularly jarring in digital as (in the middle of a fairly dramatic scene) we suddenly get panels of Wade as a talking Pop-Tart.

Kicked me right out of the story.

I get that these ads are meant to be parody, but if they're not advertising the movie they promote at least one other comic Deadpool's in.

Wow. I remember the original version of the first one vividly.

The second is more of a maybe; I remember some of those ads, but I'm less sure of that one specifically.

Spoiler alert: the creatures in the ad didn’t resemble the actual product (brine shrimp) in the least.

More fun facts*: the man who came up with the idea for selling brine shrimp as sea monkeys used the profits to support neo-nazi causes.

Oh, I absolutely remember Sea Monkeys ads. I just can't remember if -- I feel like there were multiple, and if so, not if I saw this particular one. XD
