You know I saw alot of Arrowverse fans that hated that both Arrow and Oliver didn't hide thier secret identity, but I never liked it and it also required to some extent that both of them having to hide the truth or make situations that didn't occur.

I am not saying secret identities aren't needed in comics anymore ,but I am liking that comic book writers are acknowledging why they are needed ,but also not forcing themselves to bound themselves and tell different stories about it.

Also it's nice not having an arc where the main hero is called a liar and there has to be a dramatic moment where thier loved ones understand.

Either way, this right here...all good moments!

I see so many places where people are praising how they brought back the marriage and are doing it right, but whenever I see MJ in this book, it just feels like she's only there to take up space. She doesn't really do anything or have any opinions that go against whatever Pete wants to do.

I mean... honestly issue ten cemented this as the "Ben and Jonah Show" and I've been enjoying her involvement in that plot.

Peter is the one that doesn't seem to be pulling his weight. I get that he's new at this but he's an adult who can't figure out what his spider sense is for. Hey Pete, maybe that buzzing in your head is a warning not to spend all your time hanging around an obvious supervillain.

It really says something about MJ's judgement that she won't identify Gwen (who is also super shady) as a friend but Peter clearly thinks Harry is his new BFF.

Better " they resolve every possible conflict by amiably taking things out " than " conflict that serves no purpose other than making Peter generically sad/frustrated ".

I’m fine with how MJ’s used in this book, but the thing to remember about Spider-Man fans is that, for a lot of them, him being married in any given continuity is an empty shibboleth more than anything else. See also: Superman’s trunks.

I see it more as there being lots of valid interpretations of a character but we're only allowed to have one in most media.

DC announced a live action Batman movie with Robin in it and that's huge because it's been nearly 30 years since the last one.

People want to see married Spider-Man as a main character again but I think a lot of us would settle for Peter not starting over in high school every time.

Ultimate Spider-Man is them trying something different with the characters...even if I'm worried they'll fall into old patterns that will turn people off the series soon.

Even the Fox Kids cartoon began with him in college, and I seem to recall people liking that one okay.

I like this because for all of the familiar touches, it's still telling a genuinely new and interesting (and generally positive) story.

So naturally we're all waiting for shit to hit fan and things to go wrong.

Next issue: Gwen teams up with Norman AI to throw Mary-Jane from a bridge. And then they make beautiful music code together and create two new AI kids.

The art's a little disconcerting (the poses are a) very pose-y and. b) make me think everyone's even more suspicious of each other than they actually are), but this is a nice take on things.
