I came up as an intern for Chris Claremont. That was where I first learned story when I was a kid. Every day I'd go into the room, and Chris was telling me how his stories worked, and it was a lesson. Chris' thing was for every superhero, what makes them strong makes them weak, and that's how we make them interesting. Rogue's power is also that she can't touch somebody — that being the classic example. Or Wolverine — he's savage, and he's always having to overcome his own savagery, and that creates the tension. That's always been a thing with me. Looking at Wonder Woman, I was like, "She is that character." -- Tom King

Will always respect the hell out of Tom King for building up his rep as "That guy who does the heartbreaking, depressing stories" and then wrote the unabashedly goofy Lizzie backups. Like, there's plenty to nitpick about some of his work (and I've done that too), but joy is joy, and there aren't many writers who break out of their own "established style" this effectively.

Diana's battle against everyone was shown incredibly, and especially against the Grail. The Sovereign’s narration is very wordy. I get that it from his point of view. I get what king was trying to do. But I did not like it much.

The Sovereign is still a privileged old white guy with a hate rope.

Right now, my patience for that sort of person is infinitesimally small and I wouldn’t mind if Diana yeeted him into the deepest, darkest pit of Tartarus.

Sovereign's plural pronoun is bad enough, but then their use of it is inconsistent. FOr example, in issue 14 Sovereign says to Dr. Psycho "I apologize" (sic) and in the very next sentence says "Are you under the false impression, Doctor, that we are tolerant of mockery?"

So is it 'we' or is it 'I'?!? Pick one!
