Kind of a weird take, but then, Lex as he's usually portrayed is kind of a weird guy. I really hate Smallville, but I do understand why that show led to a whole generation of "Clex" shippers--it's tough to imagine Lex pursuing any relationship with the, er, intensity that he normally brings to his focus on Superman.
From the late Eighties into the early 2000s, writers would occasionally toy with the idea that Lex's biggest crush was Lois Lane. Sometimes this was played as a monstrous emotion from a monstrous man: he came up with a scheme involving medication for Lois' mother that was designed to make her dependent on him, and in one probably-not-canon-anymore story, he spied on her as a young girl.
Other times, the Lex-Lois connection was played as more of a redeeming feature. The guy's surrounded by yes-men and yes-women, he can have almost anyone he wants--so he wants and, crucially, respects the one that he can't have, the one who'll stare into the face of his lawless billionaire ego and have the courage to tell him "no."
That seems to be the vibe we're going for here. But for Trish's sake, I hope she never compares notes with Lois.

They get lovey, he invites her back to one of his panic rooms.
She stops the relationship/encounter, writes hit piece on him, and he respects it somehow.
Do I have all that right?
