A New Marvel and DC Crossover Is Coming In 2025

Marvel Comics and DC Comics are gearing up for an exciting new crossover event scheduled for later this year. According to comicbook.com, the long-time competitors have fans who have embraced stories from both publishers and previous collaborations—such as Marvel vs. DC and DC Versus Marvel: The Amalgam Age, which rolled out in omnibus form at the end of 2024—have left audiences eager for more.

At the recent ComicsPRO retailer summit in Glendale, California, industry leaders DC Editor-In-Chief Marie Javins and Marvel Comics Editor-In-Chief CB Cebulski revealed the plan. The crossover will come in the form of two one-shot issues: one from Marvel titled Marvel/DC and another from DC titled DC/Marvel.

While specific plot details remain under wraps, further announcements are expected to shed light on the storylines and the creative teams behind the project—likely including many well-known creators who have previously contributed to both houses.

There is optimism that these issues will hit the stands in 2025, though large-scale projects like this can sometimes face delays to ensure top-notch quality. Marvel Comics VP and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort noted in his Substack newsletter last year that Marvel doesn’t often dive into crossovers, but when they do, it’s driven by clear internal objectives and unique circumstances, whether the initiative comes from Marvel or is prompted by external interest.

See, if I was to do a DC/Marvel crossover, it would be in the style of a bunch of character-specific one-shots that avoided doing the same old same while having fun with the dynamics.
Some ideas which I think have a lot of potential:

Batman/Moon Knight written by Jed MacKay.
X-Men/Secret Six written by Gail Simone (she can use whoever she wants!)
Thor/Wonder Woman written by Al Ewing
Gwenpool/Harley Quinn
Mile Morales/Static (I can dream, OKAY?)
Guardians of the Galaxy/Starjammers
Peter Parker/Nightwing written by Tom Taylor
Fantastic Four/Challengers of the Unknown
Avengers/JLA (of course, that's practically mandatory...)
Sam Wilson/Superman

It would be nice to find good teamups for Flash (Wally West), Green Lantern (any), Squirrel Girl, the current Avengers Academy... a -good- incarnation of the Legion of Super-Heroes...

It might be because they're the only 'Big Two' books I'm paying any money for at all; or it might be because it feels like an encounter between the two is long, long overdue; but I'd be jazzed to see Al Ewing's VENOM and Christian Ward's TWO-FACE.

If Gillen was still working for Marvel, seeing his ETERNALS encountering Ram V's NEW GODS would also be dandy.

Shazam and his family meeting Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur could be fun?

TBH, I've been really digging Stracyzinski's unorthodox crossover one-shots of recent (Doctor Doom/Rocket Raccoon, Captain America/Volstagg), so seeing something like that would also be really neat.

F'rinstance, Hal Jordan and Blade getting together to put down some space vampires. Or Black Canary on a road trip with the everluvin' Thing. Or Cassandra Cain and Valkyrie maybe...doing something

Yeah, Nova Corps/GL Corps would be cool. Rich Rider and Guy Gardner if you wanted hotheads, Rich/Hal if you want space cops, Rich/John Stewart for "I've seen too much shit..." And Sam Alexander/Ch'p just because?

Why not do the obvious one? New Gods/Eternals. And Kirby it up.

I'd also like Skreet and Skeets story. And maybe a Lunatik/Lobo one, but that's low on the totem pole.

Gwenpool/Harley Quinn sounds fun. But knowing Marvel it's going to be Deadpool instead. And more Secret Six is always good.

I know. Nice to see him again in the recent Shadow Cabinet mini, but I miss classic Static SO MUCH.

Which is why a Static/Miles Morales team-up would be a thing of beauty.

Yeah, I was just thinking I don't really want any huge multiverse shenanigans out of this, and would rather have something more like past crossovers, where they just seemingly inhabit the same world for as long as the story allows.

Or if you have to do the former, make it after the latter, where all this stuff happens like it's otherwise a perfectly normal team-up or cross-encounter, but then they start to realize something is up and their worlds have been smushed together in a non-Amalgam-y way.

Nothing against Amalgam, it just falls into that first trap, and... I don't know. I'd just like something simpler.
