Sure is some crisp, clean footage for 1906...

I assume it's Egg-Fu influenced tech making the recording, especially as it's in colour, which was not an option in 1906, unless your painter was REALLY fast at their job.

There was technology then for tinting black-and-white film, either with dye washes or hand-painting with stencils. The former method (amber dye washes) wasn't for aesthetics but for copyright protection (until pirates learned how to bleach the dye out). The latter method was more artistically pleasing but of course much more time-consuming, so filmmakers used only for selected scenes, if at all.
