A little tied up Robin to make us feel at home

Since I lack any new images to show you, since most of mine can be seen either here or elsewhere in the transported IJ archives, I thought I'd try something different. I'd limit myself to actual published comic covers...

To give you an idea of how plentiful the raw material was, It took me less than half an hour with www.comics.org and a couple of sites I know to give me this little lot!

Technically, if you think about which way the coin would be facing, that heads/tails bit is wrong....

Wrong thing to focus on, but I'm OCD like that.

I have an Al Bigley repro in BTAS style of the swinging blade one, which I'm surprised I've never scanned, and which is perhaps a little LESS terrifying.

The best part of this one (after tied up Robin, of course) is that Batman tries to disguise who he is from passersby by putting a fedora and trenchcoat on *over his costume*.

Gothamite #1: "Oh my gosh! I think that's Batman!"
Gothamite # 2: "Are you a moron? Batman doesn't wear a COAT and HAT!"
Gothamite #1: "Oh yeah, my mistake."

I have to ask, on the cover that advertises, "The Story of the Year! Robin declares war on Batman!" -- how exactly is Dick going to do that, from being tied to the propeller of an air-plane? I mean, I know Dick's a talented guy and all, but seriously now...

Sorry, I can't think of any covers where Robin was actually gagged.... But since it's not fair to deprive out new board of gagged Grayson (and Drake too, as it turns out) here's a little sampling. Nothing new, but Dick does "Mffff" in two of them....

I'm very confused by the Robin declares war on Batman one. The best I can figure is that Batman tied Robin to the propeller because they were fighting, and a random baddie decided to shoot at Robin? Or maybe the random baddie just thought it was more entertaining to tie Robin up and spin him around before shooting at him ...
