*shivers* That pic, it just feels so skeevy. I don't know what it is about that pairing that sends my inner red alert off. Some of my friends like it, but something about it has always disturbed me. And I'm a Magneto fan, and awfully fond of Rogue depending on the comic/show. Together, it just seems.. *sighs* I hate not knowing why something sets my red alert off, but this does. :|
But I just woke up, so reading this at first, I thought the Bold Part was part of the Mike Carey answer and the "As a fellow young woman" part made me go "...Wow. That level of sarcasm will make him an internet pariah."
... Obviously I do need caffeine to make my brain go.
I don't think there's room in Magneto's life for any real relationship (with a lover, with his children, even with his enemies.) He's far too paranoid, arrogant, and haunted to allow that sort of compromise or vulnerability.
Don't get me wrong: paranoid, arrogant, and haunted are why I'm a fangirl. I think he's fascinating.
I read it the same way (and I've been up several hours :P) but thought he was making some kind of weird harmless whedon-esque joke with the fellow young woman line.
Nothing that has been, or could be, said to justify Magneto/Rogue could be half as cool as movie-Magneto crooning "I love what you've done with your hair" and Rogue starting to take her glove off in response.
