Haha, I totally bought that and thought, wait, why is the Phantom Stranger dead, isn't he immortal?

Interesting look for Black Alice, though, since it's so obviously inspired by the Phantom Stranger. Despite the hotpants, this is more grown-up and less skanky than BA used to be.

Is this still Mary, or a different BA?

While I like the idea of Gail Simone writing the character she created again and I like that Black Alice is one of the few mega-powered DC characters that has no time for either the villains or the heroes (look at the BoP issues where the Society tries to recruit her and Black Canary and Co. try to "save" her and she basically tells/forces all of them to get lost). But she has the potential to be an Alan Scott or Jakeem Thunder, a character capable of so much power (by taking others) that she can only be used sparingly, which I don't like as much. She's too cool.

I wasn't fooled. If the PS did turn female, I'd guess the uniform wouldn't really change that much - maybe slightly thinner trousers and an altered waistcoat, but apart from that it's a very much unisex costume.

Considering that the Phantom Stranger has wildly unspecified powers of cosmic OH SHIT levels, and that the Phantom Stranger has referred to BA as 'The Alice Abomination" before...

I do not forsee this ending well for Alice, at all, once PS shows up.

ok, what am I missing? In the preview, how did we go from getting him to meet the father to back on the road in front of the graves. The art and dialogue are off.
