The Thor cover just makes it look like he and two of the Warriors Three decided to kip out for a nice little nap. I think I like that interpretation better than whatever it really is.

re: the "critically acclaimed" run--I am reminded of how media tie-in comics were always touted as being "from the hit movie" or "from the hit TV series!" when at the time the comics were being written/drawn/provided with cover text, the thing they were tied into wasn't even out yet.

I suppose they could always hire a "critic" to acclaim the run if necessary.

I'm getting a whole "World War Hulk" feel from these solicitations. I hope it's as much fun. WWH might not be everyone's cup of tea -- it is, after all, just a summer blockbuster kinda comic mini -- but judged for what it was, it was great.

I remember actually thinking that about WWH. It was over the top, and very big action movie, but I remember liking it for what it was. I do like the third cover with Steve and the flag though, he looks so grim and weary.

You know, given these covers and the spoilery endings in several Avengers comics lately, I've got a crazy theory:

I think Steve Rogers is coming back.

Yeah, it's too crazy to consider, I know.

Everything bored me about those solicits except Dani! I'm hopping up and down for that!

A few thoughts.

First, how can it be critically acclaimed if only one issue has been out? Well, that's better than when I see a Solicit for a second issue of a series (So obviously nothing is out yet) claiming it to be a huge hit and critically acclaimed.

Second. I was a bit annoyed at the interview where Bendis stated "I'm getting used to these new Status quo events" ... That's the problem. It's happening too often. You jump from event to event, barely having time to explore the new status quo. At this point, to semi-quote Doctor Horrible. "The status is not quo."

Third: Okay the covers are beautiful. Very very beautiful. Pretty, so pretty.

Dani took a trip back to the 90s, by the look of it. Hope Cable doesn't miss one of his many phallic representations.

And why do we have to have boring Cap back? Bucky Cap is so much more interesting.

I don't know if it's the warrior princess look Dani have here but she really reminds me of Lucy Lawless so much it's kind of scary.

This second 'Siege' cover would be an amazing poster. So so pretty.

In that first cover, Cap appears to be coming for my brains.

I like the second one, though. Although that's weird seaming on the cowl and someone's riveted him to the shield.

And the world needs more gun-wielding Valkyries.
