Hm, by 'the eight', do they mean the eight smartest people on Earth? The list with Amadeus Cho, Hank Pym, etc.?

Doom is SO going to kill him. I mean... they're nerds! MODOK made a D&D reference with a die. If I was Doom, I would not let a group of men, conisiting of a guy with a giant forehead, a floating head, a man that works with monkeys, and a man called Tinker, capture me and let them live to tell another soul about it... ever.

I think that, combined, there's no reason why this alliance couldn't stalemate Doom.

Modok and Leader are just one level below Doom in terms of resources or intelligence while the others are pretty smart in their chosen fields. Teamwork counts for somethin' ;)

Kind of a mistake to show even part of Doom's face, although depicting it as scar tissue consistent with a badly-healed burn is logical.

There's no complete list. It's just Amadeus showed up calling himself the 7th, then the return of realHank convinced him to bump himself down to 8th.

We can take guesses- Reed and Doom are shoeins, Tony, and likely some of those people on-page. Figuring out the list has become a fan hobby.

If not actually smarter than Doom. Thats the one thing that pisses me off about Doom is that he's shown as being smarter than characters who are superhumanly intelligent. I don't mind Reed being able to out think them laterally but as far as raw brains goes the Leader and Modok should be a full step in front of them if not more.

I was thinking that. They've been playing coy with exactly how physically damaged he is for almost fifty years, but that one panel basically makes him uglier than Anakin Skywalker.

Mmmn, so if Amadeus is 8th; there's seven spots that could be: Reed, Doom, Tony Stark, Hank Pym, Beast, ... maybe Peter Parker?

I doubt Parker's on the list, too unknown, doesn't work in enough fields.

Leader or Modok or some other villains may fill out the rest. Also I'd expect Banner to either be on or near it.

I think T'Challa's officially around #3.

I'm finding it increasingly bizarre how they're always referred to as the "eight smartest men" rather than "eight smartest people" and even individually Cho's always "7th smartest man" and Reed's the "smartest man" and so forth. I'm sure it started as a relic of sexism but now it just sounds kinda weird, as if there's actually a separate ranking list for women out there that no one's mentioning.

When you think about it, Cho should now be #6, since the guy who came up with that list and previously was #6 just ate a bullet.
