Also dunno if Smallville "absolute Justice" got discussed here, but I thought it was great, well written and Michael Shanks did a great job as Cater Hall/ Hawkman

I remember this storyline, and the death of Skyman (not a great name, but it was an ignominious way to get rid of one of their oldest Golden Age characters) and the earlier scene, not shown, where one of the dancing girls at the club Dummy is working in reveals herself to be Harlequin was a rather provocatviely posed vignette which even had lil Icon momentarily wondering about his orientation as her illusions fade (and she sings "Charming Billy" for no apparent reason).

Comments about the Dummy operating his human robot apparently by means of a touch sensitive, electronic butt plug are rather obvious, so I shall refrain, but even so?!?!?

On the other hand it has to be said that this Harlequin was an effective little psychopathic bitch if nothing else, and the illusion casting glasses are a nicely old fashioned approach. Have we seen her lately?

Oh, and I like Hazard, taking her grandfathers theme and her own powers.

Apparently, she last appeared in Stars and STRIPE.

Ummm... speaking of "dancing," who's that guy on the lower left-hand side of the cover. The one in red and blue... He, uh, looks like he's waiting for water to be poured all over him while Irene Cara's, "What A Feeling" blasts from the speakers.

That's one of the original Infinity Inc members, Hank Henshaw aka Brainwave Jr. the teleapthic an telekinetic son of the original villainous Golden Age Brainwave and the heroine who worked with Star Spangled Kid and Stripesy from time to time; Merry, the Girl of a Thousand Gimmicks (As an aside, SSK's original costume was mostly blue, Stripesy's was mostly red and Merry's was mostly white, so they made a patriotic trio).

Whilst Brainwave had assumed a handsome appearance from time to time (an illusion to disguise his distorted massive cranium) Brainwave Jr really did look like that and sought to redeem the family name by becoming a hero.

He's shown up in the modern JSA a time or two, he appeared to be working for Black Adam at one time, but that was because of Mr Mind was living inside his brain and controlling it). To be honest, I'm not sure why King Chimera is in the JSA as an illusionist when Hank probably has a better claim to fulfil that role.

Ha, Smallville's baby Icicle reminded me very much of his Infinity Inc. days where he was also a mean little punk. Too bad Waller shot him.

Absolute Justice was amazing, I'd watch that show if it didn't have Lois and Clark in it. (I used to like SV!Clark, but eventually, it just gets frustrating.) Courtney in costume, Hawkman and Dr. Fate were perfect. Sylvester Pemberton amused me because his look was so very Jack Knight.

Aside from that: the panel where Icicle says "shot your wad screwing up" is incredibly gay.

Was Absolute Justice accessible/interesting to someone who's never seen Smallville (or in my case, watched a handful of season 2 eps way back when), do you think?

Absolutely! I haven't watched Smallville in ages and it was imo designed for viewers new to the show.

All you need to know is that Lex and Lana are gone and Chloe has turned into Oracle without a wheelchair. This was 90% DCU and 10% SV, which is just right.

Nice.

Although Lex was the only reason I ever watched the show, so sadness.

But with Lex gone we now have 70% more Clark/Ollie slash!!! Helps that Ollie is a lot more likable in Smallville than mainstream Ollie*.

*which makes me sad because I believe canon!Ollie is a great character whom constantly gets saddled with bad/incompetent writing so much that it's practically futile arguing for Ollie being a nice guy and the Ollie/Dinah pairing. *

Cam obviously was a little bi-curious in his teens. I mean, he's even wearing the same hat as Pied Piper.

I love how the villainesses are constantly doing sexy poses!
Villain legacies are a great concept, Icicle and Tigress are still in the family business, maybe it's time the others got back in the game too. The current Injustice Society really needs some better members.

So, wait, I know this is Earth-2, so the chronologies are a bit different, but is this Harlequin a different one from the original? Because if I remember correctly, she was pretty much only a villain in the first place because she wanted to get the Golden Age Green Lantern's attention, and she eventually gave up her life of crime and became his wife. I don't think she was ever as downright nasty as this Harlequin is.
Also, I'm not sure that I approve of how the Dummy's being drawn here. His whole deal is that nobody really knows whether he's a midget who looks like a ventriloquist's dummy or just a ventriloquist's dummy that's come to life somehow, right? So A: he should be much shorter than he is, and B: he should look more like a dummy - his skin should look painted; his jaw should look like it wags up and down with the motion of a ventriloquist's hand. He should be CREEPY. As it is, he looks more like a short guy whose face is frozen in a certain position. It ain't quite the same.

Oh. Well, my mistake then. Still, that makes things still MORE confusing - is she Alan Scott's wife or isn't she?

*rubs aching forehead* This stuff is COMPLICATED. Still, at least I know the answer to my question now.
